Importing your favorite ship hulls per request (1 a month)

I've been getting myself familiar with importing hulls into StarMade and have finally figured out a method to generate awesome hulls (more then just using smedit which isn't very good at voxelizing 3D models on its own) which i will gladly disclose for any whom might be interested.

With that in mind. I am willing to start accepting request for your favorite Sci-fi ships or 3D models to generate for you and post to the dock.
Just leave a comment here and i will try to get it in for you within a day or two. I ask that you provide the..

Ship name (or 3D model if you have it)
Length
block type and block color

Please don't go over 1000 meters in length as it is just too much of a pain to splice back together to get two identical sides. For doing so my only request is that you leave an honest review of the hull good or bad and maybe a mention if you post the finished ship to the dock.. I hope to see these ships finished in the future.

Hello can i request that you do the star trek Steamrunner class Since it is a ship that i have really wanted in starmade but have been unable to get one.

You might be able to get the model from 1:1 Star Trek fleet (no interiors) Minecraft Project since this has a lot of ships from star trek already in block form.

Or if you have too much trouble with that a Challenger class

I saw that you had a post in the community content section offering to import some ships if we had the specifications for them.

I was hoping maybe you'd be able to get the Sovereign class reaper from the mass effect series. I'm not sure where one would get the model for it though but it would be ideally 700m for starmade.

If it's possible, I'd like one as you see here, where the legs are more closed so they are suited as to be flying!

I didn't use white blocks though because it would have removed all of the details that the original creator of this schematic added. I was able to get it hollowed out however.. He actually had nearly every level on this ship some how lol.. awesome.

There is a method to making these hulls high quality like this. Basically you (don't) use smedit to voxelize the hulls.. But instead something superior like a plug in for 3DS MAX called Voxelator among many others, or Binvox is a decent one for converting OBJ and STL file types.

They produce very accurate representations of the models vs smedit which tends to be pretty sloppy when it tries to voxelize the model..

The other trick is that i use 3DS to remove interiors or dangly bits to remove any artifacts they will produce as some 3D models will have interiors which can cause issues during conversion from time to time. If you know it doesn't have any interior then you should be fine just voxelising it.

I then use smedit to add block type/color preference and convert the model into a blue print that SM can use.

Then i cut the ship in half and then put up a symmetry plane so that i can get both sides identical to make it easier to work with later on.

To make putting the two halves back together easier. You use exact dimensions of the ship to create your copy box. Then the horizontel plane (left to right) needs to be exactly half the ships actual width. Then once you have a copy of half the ship. You set down a core. lay out a line of blocks half the width of the ship to one side. put another line of blocks the length of the ship going backwards to give you room to get your core placement just right. Then paste it once you fiddle around getting the core where you want. But bear in mind that larger ship copy/pasting will drag your FPS through the ringer.

I try to place the core at that time as close to the bridge as possible and put it facing the right direction of course (which depending on the 3d model doesn't always start off that way and you will want to make certain that it is).

But that is my method. It is a pain in the butt. but i have the spare time for now.

If you are still doing these imports by request I would love to see any one of 4 podracers from the Star wars universe, that of Boles Roor, Neva Kee, Gasgano, or Elan Mak, any of these 4 would be awesome, due to the old podracing game for the nintendo 64 having some fond memories to it, and these 4 pods in particular. So if you can import any of these 4 I would be grateful, as for the color, I would hope it could be as close to the movies as you could get it, as for size of the ship, 200 long would look good and then get height and width to match it best, or if you think this does not look that good, then feel free to pick a size for yourself. Thank you for considering this even if you are unable to make any of the 4 look good in game

i will.. But after i fix the core position on the ambassador and then repost it. I would like for you to review it again with the core in the right direction.. (i really thought it was) but it was late and i was sleepy.

I am getting to it annubis. The game just keeps crashing when i try to put them back together. So i might have to give this model to you without completely identical sides, albeit they will be pretty close if i do. But im going to try a couple other things beforehand.

It is of the Raptor class. Forget which one exactly as there are about a dozen in that class on STO... There are so many ships in that game that every soul who plays StarMade currently could be flying in there own unique ST ship with some more to spare for new folks later on..

the klingon ship is the mogh or the mat'ha raptor if i am not mistaken i play STO almost daily so i see these ships on a constant basis

If you have time, I'd love a version any of the following ships:
Avenger Battlecruiser, Arbiter Battlecruiser or Eclipse Intel Cruiser.
I know the Eclipse is supposed to be 982m long...but if you can cut it down to 600 or less that would be awesome.
