      SMEdit

Oh hey, you're quite right. Third Party / SMedit does indeed have a bunch of files and folders. Starting SMedit it still gives the virtual machine error, though. I'm not sure if I have multiple versions of java installed. I'm bound to have 64-bit since I run a 64-bit system, but it's possible...

Any way to rotate a core?

I can wait. Good to hear it's being worked on. Thanks for the response.

Any way to rotate a core?

Yeah... I made my ship backwards... Any way to flip the core, maybe by editing the core's orientation in the ship files or something? I can't get SMedit to work, and I don't especially want to flip my ship around manually. Really I'd like to see an in-game feature whereby the core can be...

      SMEdit

"Could not create the java virtual machine" It's also probably worth mentioning that 'jo_plugins' is empty, though the other files seem to have been generated just fine. I made my ship backwards... Granted it wouldn't be massively difficult to rebuild it to be the right way round, it's still...

      Fight with us!

Corporatism stems directly from capitalism. It's like saying "guns aren't the problem, it's the bullets that are killing people".

      Fight with us!

Mixing capitalistic and communistic ideas works. To think that there are only "God lovin' 'Muricans" and "God damn Commies" is a false dichotomy. I, personally, don't support any major political party, either here or in the US. Your political process is a circus, and when you vote you think...

      Fight with us!

That the devs support stuff like this just makes me like them even more. I don't live in the US, but I'm not so naive that I think that it won't affect me if this legislation passes. In regards to those who say 'just go with another company' I say to you 'good luck'. Large swathes of the US...

Filter Blocks (only render X, only remove X)

A feature like this has already been implemented. It's not (as far as I remember, I've not played for a while) particularly user-friendly, and there are a couple more features that I'd like to see; but it's extremely useful being able to remove, say, a block of explosive modules and replace them...

      Starmade Ship Showcases

Awesome. I'd love to produce idents. Fairly simple but lots of room for creativity. For me it's a case of finding the work. I only recently got out of doing purely pro bono work, so my CV is still pretty weak. I've started looking into 3D design programs like 3DS Max and Blender to try and...

      Starmade Ship Showcases

I've not heard of Plexus before. Pity it isn't free, but then I guess most good AE plugins aren't. I'd buy it but freelance editing isn't exactly showering me in money. I'll have to add it to the list of stuff I want but can't afford. TC particular will do me for now, though I don't think it's...

      Starmade Ship Showcases

@Bench Hah, that's actually some pretty nice effects work. Most of it is simple enough, but I'm wondering how you did that rotating wireframe-looking thing. I can't think of a way to do it in After Effects (no way that wouldn't be really time consuming, anyway) so I assume that you either had...

      CLOSED* CONTEST: Default Stations Submission

I've tried that. In the DATA folder of the blueprint a 70kb file is generated, while in the DATA folder of a very small ship an 80kb file is generated. In others, 500kb files are generated. It feels as though the station file is too small, as though it's bugged. Perhaps I should upload it...

      CLOSED* CONTEST: Default Stations Submission

Eh, I suppose I could upload my trade station. May as well. If somebody could give me a rundown on how to save and upload a station before the deadline then I'll upload it. If not, it's no crying shame. That is assuming the contest is still on. I've not been paying attention.

      CLOSED* CONTEST: Default Stations Submission

Pirate station. As with my trade station it isn't a behemoth like some of the other entries... I just don't have the patience or the talent to build something that big. The idea here is that pirates have taken over an old shipyard/ repair facility. They've effectively plugged in an old frigate...

Bug RuntimeException Fragment shader failed to compile

Thanks. Bump maps now work as well.

      CLOSED* CONTEST: Default Stations Submission

Trade station. Might need more blue. I also regret going with white, as white is horrible when used in bulk.

Bug RuntimeException Fragment shader failed to compile

I first got this error when I wanted to test out the new lighting and debris effects in the dev build. Turns out this error has followed me to the stable version, and presumably has something to do with the debris effect. Java is fully updated, as far as I'm aware. I've also sent a crash...

Nebula class starship 1:1 now complete

I... okay. My sincere apologies if it seemed that my hypothetical expression of surprise at it not being a binvox implied that I had not read that it was, in fact, a binvox.

      Days of old..

I actually came with the so-called 'Yog-swarm' despite being an old man... by this community's standards. I tend to think of this community as a mix of 13-year-olds and Elite fans, mostly the former. Not that that's a bad thing, mind. I'll probably give Starmade a rest soon, though, and come...

Nebula class starship 1:1 now complete

I would be extremely surprised if this wasn't binvox. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, mind. I might start doing binvox with extremely basic shapes to act as a base for a more complicated ship. Also I like the Nebula class. Steamrunner, Saber and Miranda are cool too - sort of that...
