Starmade Machinima - looking for some neat ships

For the past month or so I've been working on and off on a Starmade machinima. Some of you might remember a machinima I did a while ago; people seemed to like it so I'm making another one. I've not gotten very far in so far - not beyond a few concept compositions - so I've decided that I'd like...

      More Weapon Hotbars

A ship with 10+ weapons? That seems excessive. I rarely have more than 3. In regards to drones and the like, I'd rather just see an expanded UI that specifically covers docked ships. The structure tab is nice and all, but it could do with a lot of improvements and, of course, ease of access.

Player weapons are ignored by shields

It only takes a few seconds to get through hardened hull with the laser. Modules only need a couple of shots, and shields can be one-shot. It'd only take a few seconds of shooting to get through a thin hull, then a player could chew up the insides of a ship. I'd rather see a sapper tool that...

      AI

But wouldn't a removal of Bobby AIs mean that extremely small ships like drones would be near impossible to field in large numbers? NPCs should be more intelligent than Bobby AIs, sure, but Bobbies should remain in-game as a cheap, stupid alternative to crewmen.

      The universe

I'm more interested in the improved AI. Maybe that'll be part of the universe update. In any case I hope it's coming soon.

Sexier jump drives - and turning effect computers into drives.

What even is that? I can think of no reason why I would want that on my ship. I'd rather have a warp core room that I've designed myself than some poxy little rotating... shape.

      Round Planets!

I still wish cube planets were a thing. I understand that the sudden change in gravity at the corners would be jarring, but I don't see why there can't be some interpolation between one plane of gravity to the next. It'd sure make gravity lifts less disorientating.

      Modular component systems

It's to stop people from crashing a server. I have mine set to 100 rather than 10, but placing a 100x100x100 cube can sometimes crash my game. Somebody could hop onto a server and build a 1000x1000x1000 cube (if they had the resources) and just crash the server. Still, a higher default setting...

      Earth Authority [Flotilla 27]

God damn it. I downloaded the Victoria destroyer. It's slightly larger than the biggest ship I've ever built, which sucks. I warrant it'd win in a fight as well, though one salvo from my ship's main guns drop the Victoria's shields down to about 50% so there's that. Still, after digging around...

      Scaffolding

I've thought this too. Back when I played Tekkit I loved the scaffold blocks, just as decoration for factories and that.

      Missile dodging

That seems convoluted. The concept makes sense, sure, but it doesn't make sense to describe a term using a point of reference that most people don't understand, especially on a forum that - if I'm not mistaken - is comprised mostly of teenagers, not astrophysicists. Using a car as an analogy is...

      Missile dodging

I'd just like maneuverability to be rewarded. Turning round and shooting is all well and good (really good, actually) but it'd be nice to be able to move out of the way without, say, losing a ship you were chasing. Seems like constantly turning to target missiles would be an irritating...

      Missile dodging

I see. I was referring to the common vernacular. It makes more sense to refer to terms as a layman. The common use of 'theory' for example is different to the scientific use of the word. As a general rule I don't respond well to what I perceive to be snarky comments. Explaining oneself (as you...

      Missile dodging

Right... so you can change direction, and then accelerate in that direction?
    15. BeefBacon

      Missile dodging

Acceleration refers to a change (usually an increase) in velocity - it has no bearing on direction. Changing direction is changing direction. Increasing speed is usually referred to as acceleration. You can accelerate in a direction, and you can change the direction you are accelerating in, but...

      EMP Disruptors

The EMP effect module is your friend. While it doesn't distrupt navigation, it does drain power.

      Missile dodging

That feels like a half measure that benefits larger ships over smaller ships. Large ships can support a lot of point defence turrets that can (will be able to) shoot down missiles. Small ships will be forced to constantly turn around to shoot missiles down, rather than rapidly changing direction...

      Missile dodging

My problem with seeker missiles is that they have a 99% hit rate. Considering the damage they do - especially to small ships - this seems a little ludicrous. I propose that objects moving at a perpendicular vector to the missile should have a good chance of evading the missile altogether. This...

      Mass-based turning system

I'd like to see the rotational axis be moved from the ship's core and to the ship's center of mass. Having the core right at the back or right at the front on a large ship looks pretty weird when it turns.

Missile configs: Best of all worlds

I think some people think the 'speed' tracking' etc is part of the suggestion. I'm not even sure it isn't. I imagine many people would prefer that the look of a missile is affected by the effect modules applied to it. Personally I'd like to be able to choose, or at least have a nicer effect in...
