Vau Monk - Vau Monk - Enhanced

The mining drones now have about 4 times as many salvage modules and still work great. With the new fleet upgrades, these little drones can really eat through a whole field of rocks quickly. Mothership function is largely unchanged, but the rear end was shortened for slightly improved...

      Block Driven Ship/Turret AI

I would be fine with seeing a proper AI-interface out of a single block as well, if it could allow the same degree of flexibility!! This will also increase server load!!1! Every entity will still have to be checked for AI actions, whether it arises from blocks or from background code!!!11...

StarMade v0.199.349 - NPC Faction Update

Well then thank you for the opportunity to shamelessly plug my most recent drone miner/light carrier, if you want to give it a spin and see how it goes. It has its own mining array and 3 small mining drones that have been extensively tested and work well. Ready to use to see if you even like...

StarMade v0.199.349 - NPC Faction Update

This has majorly improved fleet mining for players, schema. Thank you!

      How Drone Mining Works

Same thing here and - wow. They mine faster, more consistently, less "rest breaks" (guess their union got busted). So now I'm very curious to see if this will improve the results for those players suffering from stubbornly broken drones. Grab a drone miner (shameless plug) and test it out...

      How Drone Mining Works

Maybe. I don't think that's it though. I've taken a working miner out of an actively mining group, broken it while modding it, and watched ALL the other drones suddenly become idiot cat-drones ramming their target and each other and spinning about (and had to re-update my install version to make...

      How Drone Mining Works

I've had the same problem multiple times before. Resolved it sometimes just through time, and had it happen again. Sometimes just seems to resolve itself as new builds update. Not very reliable, but currently am having good results repeatedly. Plenty of breakages though - the system needs help...

      How Drone Mining Works

Not to argue, but... this is not universal. In my repeated experiences over a period of months they DO work with multiple outputs. I use drones with about 700 salvage units and one salvage comp. That's a few dozen groups firing separately. Have been for a few weeks now. Almost daily. Of...

      Fleet: IDLE stops asteroids dead

This was in SP. Vanilla. Asteroids cannot be fleeted though. I've done it several times now.

      Fleet: IDLE stops asteroids dead

Try it. Not sure if it works unless you have a fleet around, but if you have a fleet moving around in a sector and an asteroid is spinning or drifting, ordering your fleet to idle stops the 'roid as if it had thrusters. Guess even the rocks want to be in our fleets!

      Sorry 'bout that! Blue better?

      How Drone Mining Works

I have been drone mining (using fleets, of course) more and more lately. After extensive fine tuning of my drones, my carryall, and my technique I'm really loving it now. As a family man who works from home and often needs to be AFK unexpectedly while playing SM, I've found that mining drones go...

      Block Driven Ship/Turret AI

jijiji - just because you come crashing in here disrespecting the OP suggestion in order to shamelessly plug your own without actually understanding yourself what Edymnion is proposing, doesn't mean we haven't read the thread. You bashed his idea saying it would take around "50 blocks" to...

      Block Driven Ship/Turret AI

+1 This would outsource AI to the players and is a brilliant idea. Supported the idea before, and still strongly support it. So much work has gone into adding logic features - I would rather see some of this invested in being able to direct our ships and fleets than simply opening & closing...

      Dev Blog : December 6th

So, Bench, I'm super curious about whether the oncoming change in dynamic from NPC empires presages a change in the way player factions function as well. We're seeing these large, sometimes massive NPC empires on the maps in the Dev build, but under current Faction Points (FP) dynamics, most...

What are reasonable and enforceable limits to reduce lag in multiplayer?

The eternal debate: mass -vs- block count. The system can easily average the two figures (M+BC/2) with a simple calculation. M+BC/2 would not be as exploitable as either one on its own and could form the basis for a well-rounded gauge for limiting MP ship deployment.

      Question: Fleet Mining

I just uploaded a copy of my most recent casual miner (drone/primary split as opposed to just a giant primary mining array, for more casual play and earning while chatting). The drones on it use multiple groupings and work for me on multiple servers and in SP. I had to try a lot of different...

      Vau Monk 2016-12-15

Finally - a ready-to-use, efficient mining & survey ship for the casual player! The Monk has a strong primary mining array that can clean up whole asteroids on its own within a couple of minutes. Besides that, it has 3 efficient small mining drones that finish asteroids quickly. They move on...

      I'm scared for Starmade

BTW - the OP is not a suggestion. Why is this thread in the suggestions forum, taking up space and distracting from valuable brainstorming?

      Question: Fleet Mining

That sucks. Broken by an update perhaps. It certainly is not easy. Every time I start making a mining drone template, I literally have to do it 3-5 times until I get one that works. Same process, same components. Not sure the difference. Once I get a core that works, I expand it, skin it, and...
