Jotonex promoted to Officer for her fantastic contributions to the faction and her efforts in establishing a fleet for the IG colony. Jotonex appointed as fleet officer for the IslandGames colony.
This is the first example of an independent citizen (not even an officer) taking it upon herself to organise a civilian-funded military force for the protection of a colony.

This Vessel has both military and civilian functions having both AntiMatter cannons as well as salvagers, Atrotech and jump kits for all occassions.

As arti said, pretty much anything can be a drone. Although when it comes to drones I'd say it's too big, since drones are a quantity thing and are more effective if you can spam tens or hundreds of them with minimal impact to resources.
As you can see both Master Artificer and karkinosz have answered your question. A drone is a self-controlled or long distance controlled ship and are effective when used in large amounts.

You are right, to an extent. I will avoid argument by saying 'for each their own', however I can assure you that we will not spawn hundreds of them. Yes I'm thinking of you Dovan Empire and your lawnmovers -_____-
Nevertheless, the drone armada which is commanded by IG Fleet Officer Jotonex is mostly civilian funded and 10 of the current 16 vessels were created without the usage of any state resources. The Order of Bogatyrs has never suffered from a financial defecit and as long as I stay in power, I will do all I can to make sure it never does. Our faction has huge expenses however we have dedicated miners and efficient salvaging technologies, who, alongside the management and finance department ensure that the great machine of our economy is constantly moving and growing.

As can be seen...more or less from the above video there is a lot of targetted firing going on with the ships aiming to eliminate the threats and having relatively good aim.
As can be seen from this image there wsa very little collateral damage with the main structural integrity of the station intact, while all potential dangerous zones where turrets, traps or other malicious technology was placed, was destroyed.
However, afterwards the Fury Pirate Fleet arrived levelling the odds at 18 pirates vs 16 heavy drones.
It seems that the IG Fleet has a bit of work to do before it is fully battle-capable.
Unlike the fury fleet the IG Fleet, though set to defend sector did not defend it until it was sent out of sector and back in it. Even then the fleet hesitated to engage (unlike the fury fleet) 'cept from a distance (where fury fleet had an advantage).

When interviewed about the incident, Bogdan said: "The issues will be solved and the Drones improved significantly. The new fleet technology proved to be a massive disappointment however we are hoping that our importation of technologies from the great Schemadyne company will allow us to progress and develop our fleets to overcome the older universal variant of artificial intelligence known as Bobby AI."
