      Greifing or Legitimate Strategy?

Because this is a video game. Video games are supposed to be fun. Logging in to find everything you've spent months building has been completely destroyed and you got no say in the matter, no chance to defend yourself, or even any notice that anything was wrong is not fun for anyone but the...

      Core movement.

Because there's only like 3 of them, and I'm pretty sure 1 is dedicated to squishing bugs and the other one works on the art. Basically there aren't enough devs to have teams of them working on multiple things at once.

One thing to watch out for with this though would be the additional server load of tracking these guys running around. But that could be as simple as "If no player is in the sector, disable the NPCs and just load resources into storage directly every tic".

In Developement Cockpits: Simple solution (remote core access)

Have you never seen an episode of Star Trek? The computers the bridge crew are using *ARE* the things blowing them up! :P

Nah, thats why you have recreational areas and luxuries to keep the population happy. There we go. Wake up, go to work. Finish work, swing by the alien karaoke bar for a bit, then go home to bed. Be just like real life! Wake up, work, waste time doing silly things, go to bed. Lather...

      Greifing or Legitimate Strategy?

Then you simply have the area trigger tied to a damage pulse. Work out the pulse radius, put the pulse block far enough back that it will detonate when something is one block in front of the warhead, and the damage triggers the warhead because damage has to trigger it in order to keep it...

Additional Brainstorming: What if the NPCs that spawned in were generic, and didn't do anything on their own? Instead, you needed to have gear lockers (in the same vein that we currently have medical cabinets). An NPC goes to a gear locker, uses it, and is "equipped" with a job role. The...

Weapon Module Linking Across Docked Entities

Might be a pretty tall order until we get the whole "how to make things talk to docked entities" thing done (so that you could do things like access the inventory of a docked ship), but if/when we get that cracked, one small request? Some kind of a weapon output block that can be linked to...

      Kill Logic pipes

We have starships that can bend space and time to our will, but it still takes a warehouse to hold so much as a calculator...

Change Weapon Fire Size Based on Slaves?

People asking for weapons fire to get bigger based on array size are pretty common, but I can see how having to dynamically calculate the size of the projectile based on the size of the array in real time could get costly (because if part of the array gets hit and blocks taken out, you'd have to...

      conventonal weapon idea

Sorry man, I gotta agree with everybody else. We have cannons in the game. You can make them into machine guns or giant siege cannons by changing the slaves. There would be no trajectory in space, and nobody would take even a semi-medium sized ship near enough to a planet for trajectory from...

Star Trek / Low Profile Turrets?

I'd pay real money for the ability to have modules in the base and the computer in the top.

      Greifing or Legitimate Strategy?

No, but if I give you a 100 blocks and 5 minutes, and I take a week with 10,000 blocks, I should win in any fight imaginable between us because I had more resources and more time to build/prepare. But if we want to frame it in your terms, yes, the hardcore should win in a fight against a...

      Greifing or Legitimate Strategy?

It boils down to fair play. Someone who spends more time and resources *SHOULD* have an advantage over someone that just slops some stuff together in 10 minutes and calls it done. People who work harder at the game should get bigger rewards than those who just flit in every once in a while.

Side note, this is awesome, and I will find some reason to incorporate this into... something.

It is. I've seen servers that had the server rules on the "Welcome to Starmade!" window when you logged in.

      Greifing or Legitimate Strategy?

Faction permission levels are broken, more often than not they don't work at all. Locking your ships is useless since they added the cutting torch. The *ONLY* protection this game actually has against griefers running roughshod over everyone without anything to stop them is the faction home...
