Your starengine inspired me to do someting simliar.

Thanks for sharing it! - I'm happy to hear that something I made has inspired you, and I think what you built there is a very-very nice piece of decoration. It's a splendid example of large-scale detailing, and it really looks like functional machinery. I like both its design and the cleanness of how you actually constructed it all. I enjoy building dieselpunk-ish stuff too, but I'm not sure which of my "star engines" you referred to, since all of the three structures below qualify as "star engines" :^D

(By the way, in English, "engine" is sometimes meant as a synonym of Railway Locomotive.)

A bit from all of them but mostly the third one. Sorry was a mistranslation, I mean radial engine but the german word for for it is Sternmotor and I simply directly translated it. Stern=star and Motor=engine

Oh, I see. Actually it's kinda funny, because I should have known that by "star engine" you mean "radial engine", since these kind of piston engines are named like that in my language too (in Hungarian it's "csillagmotor", csillag = star).

The thing that confused me is that the first picture I shown is a ship of mine called "the Krypton W16 star-engine" (but in this case, like I said, the "engine" part refers to Railway Locomotive, because that ship resembles a locomotive that is meant to travel among the stars) :)

The cargo container of you new miner should be ejected without a shootout rail and only via a simple logic signal to its rail.

    But nice work. :)

I'm glad you like it, and thanks for the suggestion. - Originally, the idea was to have an RP-heavy miner that can arrive to a similarly RP-heavy mining base station, release its cargo with a flick of a switch, get loaded with an empty cargo pod, and proceed to a new round of mining.

I guess the container unloading could have been achieved by simply detaching it from within the ship, and then some automated pull-effect beams docked on the station would have drawn it away from the ship, finally captured by a pick-up rail.

I will have to experiment whether pick-up rails on a station can catch shot out entities, might work, if not, it's still fun to be able to shoot out the container :^D

    PROGRESS UPDATE POST #16

Just a minor thing today... A few screenshots of something that can be considered a side-project compared to the recent main focus of this thread (which you can check on the 2nd page if you aren't yet familiar with this place).

These are the results of the first ~4 hours of building a pretty big ship (420 meters long) inspired by Battleship Goliath built and recently published by darknassius

How you like it so far? - Opinions about what's good / possible improvements / or features to add will be appreciated! :-p

This thing might end up being my sexiest ship... You may argue that in some countries this color-scheme alone would suffice to get me a forceful psychiatric intervention, but I think it's borderline acceptable. It kinda looks like some fancy dessert. Which is a good thing - battlecruisers have to look delicious too, sometimes ;)

Those six docked engines, which are effectively oversized RCS thrusters (Reaction control system - Wikipedia), will be rotatable via hotbar commands, such as "Move Backward" / "Move Up" / "Move Down", which will realign them separately in ways that make sense for any given desired direction.

I'm happy to hear that it suits your taste :)

I build in solo only. I never played StarMade on multiplayer servers, because I enjoy building much more than the other elements of the game (I don't really enjoy combat, mining, crafting, exploration or strategy compared to roleplay building).

So singleplayer is the optimal place for my creative activities, because there I can have unlimited blocks, admin controls, no pirates or NPC fleets, etc.

    psst cake build server
jontyfreack - If that server does indeed provide its players with those freedoms mentioned before, than it sure sounds like the ideal environment for devoted RP / aesthetic builders. To tell the full truth, I didn't yet seek servers to join because on one hand, singleplayer gave me the proper full control needed for hardcore RP building projects, and on the other hand, I actually am indeed attracted by the idea of working under the survival circumstances of the typical multiplayer universe, but I'd rather not risk getting hooked XD

I imagine that having to mine, craft, trade, explore, defensively strategize, and occasionally have some shoot-offs makes the products of one's creative efforts feel much more useful / valuable / meaningful... And I can foresee developing a slight addiction to it all, on top of already killing enough time with StarMade RP building that it's basically my main hobby. (Maybe if time permits some day.)

darknassius - Two or three other builders already suggested to me in the past years that I should collaborate with them in building a few ships, but I could not take the offer, for several reasons. I can't because of time limits, having no experience with multiplayer, and I also have Obsessive–compulsive personality disorder - Wikipedia, and that makes it very hard for me to cooperate on duo-projects. :^D

But you should definitely collaborate with someone else, because you are a very creative builder :)

    PROGRESS UPDATE POST #19

I'm finished with the first stage of building this monster: the shell and its rather unique engine rotation feature are done.

In its current state, it's 435 meters long, it's made up of just a little over 200,000 blocks, has a mass of about 16K without those six docked engine pods and 28K in total (each engine pod contains 14,800 thruster blocks).

As you might be able to tell, those medium-sized turrets all over it are just mock-ups. It also has two large flat surfaces on the top and bottom "spoiler wings" at the rear, and one way down below the bridge reserved for three heavy turrets. I'm waiting for the weapons update before designing, building and installing the ship's turret arsenal and fleet of fighters.

I also decided on a name; since its bridge and "nose" kinda make it look like a crocodile's head, I went through the following possibilities:

    Gator-class Battlecruiser
    The Sarcosuchus Battlecruiser
(referring to a giant prehistoric crocodile species)
Deinosuchus Mk1 - The Reptilian Dreadnought (also an extinct crocodile species)

...Before settling with "Sobek", after the ancient egyptian crocodile-headed deity (Sobek - Wikipedia).

Here are 3 of the 6 engine orientation options: Move Backward, Strafe Upward, and Strafe Downward
(the others are Roll Left, Roll Right, and the default Move Forward)

It took 20 days from sketching out the wireframe I revealed a few posts earlier to this milestone stage. Now I'm going to put this project to rest until we get the first release/prototype of the renewed weapons, and once that's out, I will continue with the turrets, on-board weapons, systems, and roleplay interior in simultaneity. As always, feedback would be much appreciated :)

It somehow reminds me of a green dragon.
I know right, with the bridge being its "face or forehead", the bridge windows its "eyes", and the "nose", well, its "nose" ;)
I actually had a similar impression, which is the reason I named it "Sobek", as explained in the spoiler of the post you referred to.

    Oh god, she's excellent...
Thank you, sir, your approval is much appreciated! - But it's actually more of a "he" than a "she", because its namesake appears to be male:
