    The Death Rattle 2017-02-27

Osiyo! With a possible looming power system overhaul and since I'm the only vaguely Native American-themed shipbuilder I know of, I am publishing my most useful and downright fun designs for everyone to enjoy playing around with if they wish.

To that end, I, Swiftstone of the Neo Echota Drive Yards, will first present to you the crowning jewel of my heavy weapons chassis designs, The Death Rattle.

Sporting a station-shaming power package of 20,504,975 capacity with 1,580,569 e/sec regen, 550,518 shields charging at 33,055 s/sec, 1 to 1 thrust/mass ratio, jamming, scanner and station-smasher weapons crammed into a hull just 97m long, 25m high, and 57m wide, the Death Rattle is quite simply my finest all-purpose heavy weapons chassis to date.

Did I mention it has a small interior space which is blank in order to facilitate a cockpit and living cabin RP build, or the 63k units of cargo space? The blast-shielded entrances can easily be retrofitted with a universal docking collar if you are using such a system.

    This is the below-deck space.

This is the Bridge space, directly above. Both shots are from the inside bow window corner:

    Then an outside view:

Though I have left the hull clean for release here, it has plenty of juice to spare for turrets, should you choose to install them. Most of the power is used to feed the quad battery of station-killer nukes. The other weapons, though powerful, mostly only dent the capacity.

All weapons fire in quad volleys.
The cannons and beams are fairly powerful, but the real showstoppers are the missiles.

The Fighter Elimination lock-on missiles do 229,500 damage each.
The Turret Crusher lock-on missiles do 556,200 damage each.
The Station Killer nukes do 618,951 damage each.

The sleek profile also means easy external mounting of smaller ships such as mining drones or fighters, as well as simply making it nearly invulnerable to getting hung up in close maneuvers with other ships or structures.

With The Death Rattle's cargo capacity, it also makes for an excellent mining fleet mothership, able to take onboard and defend mined resources for delivery back to station. You could even add a large array of cannon-linked mining lasers and mine right alongside your drones or friends.

The under-bow-mounted rail docker is linked to the storage for ease of cargo transfer, but is mainly there for ease of hitting pickup rails with the bow camera. Should that camera be destroyed, the core view has been left as unobstructed as I could manage to make it while still offering protection for the pilot and any passengers.

And now a view with an Isanth B alongside for scale comparison.

I hope you enjoy the ship. I will be releasing others as time permits, including the Obsidian Arrowhead Fighter, Obsidian Axehead Medium Fighter, Hungry Ghost mining ship/drone, Fatty Finch Zip Freighter and the L'il Shaman short-range rescue and repair shuttle.

After reading the first couple of reviews, I feel I should explain a few things. First, while I happen to like my ships sleek, this ship was built specifically to be the monster you keep quietly locked in a box until you need it, as seen here, slumbering in my bay along with 8 fighter craft as the centerpiece of my shipyard's combat fleet.

It is designed specifically to be a relatively compact powerhouse that doesn't get hung up parking in a bay, or interfere too much with movement around it in the bay when using smaller craft. I offer it only as a combat chassis to be altered or simply used as a disposable Destroyer drone, at your whim. I have no ego about it other than in regards to it's actual performance in battle.

This is a somewhat generalized, but still purpose-built military craft. I suppose it might qualify as a PvP ship.

It is not made to be especially pretty. It's made to be especially effective. If you want to rumble into a battle with a nimble ship that's firing quad beams, cannons and volleys of death featuring 3 flavors and intensities of missile, while largely simply dodging missiles and/or ignoring incoming fire, then this is your Huckleberry.
If you want to have a ship that can be halfway blasted apart, yet still protect you, still fight, or disengage and limp back to port, all while protecting precious cargo nestled in the center of the ship with you, this is your monster.

I will not be offended if people don't like it for aesthetic reasons. I only ask that they try it out and see if they don't enjoy the knowledge that at any time they wish, they can obliterate nearly anything they come across in mere seconds. I know I do. Which is why I'm releasing it.

I think its a decent little ship. Yes, the interior is blank, but that just leaves it open for anyone to add their own. Whats wrong with that? The exterior is flat, yes, but the color pattern is rather nice.

Good job, I hope to see more of your work in the future.

Thank you for the kind words. As I mostly play single-player, rather than on a server, I am quite frankly wholly inexperienced with interior builds. Also, as someone who is red/green colorblind, I feel that I am unqualified to be making interior design decisions for other people.

Some of the color combinations I find to be fun, interesting or downright pleasant, others find to be eye-blistering. So I leave that up to them.

While I have never made the claim that my ships are especially pretty, I do like for them to be good at what they're built to do. This craft is my 'Ace-in-the-Hole' so to speak.

If you need to bring down large game while being nimble and hard to hit, this is your ship. From the enemy's perspective, the ship has a very slim target profile. If you strap on 8 small AMS turrets above and below at the 'corners' of the craft, they have full interlocking and clear fields of fire. Then the ship becomes very, very hard to kill, rather than simply difficult to kill.

This goes for any other turrets you wish to mount as well.
Needs interior, better exterior design as well. Anyone could build that thing.
Well... Maybe you try to build some kind of interior? You know, exposed systems are not that great. Also, while definitely bright and festive, the hull just prays for more detailing.

I updated the original entry a little bit in order to explain in part why the hull is sleek, with pics of it in my bay.

As for the interior, I'm red/green colorblind. You do not want me making those choices for you. So rather than make players strip out an ugly interior, I left it blank for them to customize as they choose. You will note that the only exposed systems are on the interior of the ship, along with a few of the thrusters in the rear for effect. Everything else is under light standard armor, to heavy advanced and crystal armor at the prow.

It is a fine purpose-built Pocket Destroyer military ship/drone. Not a cruise liner or show-piece. I can only ask that you consider it as such.

If you're facing a battle fierce enough to warrant riding a real beast of a ship into it, wouldn't you rather it be in one that is outright designed to be blasted apart around you while keeping you safe and being able to continue fighting, or at least able to limp back to port?

I would. So I built it. Now I offer it up for others who might wish to have such a blueprint in their catalog to be used at need.
