For years Starmade has had no direction at all resulting in linerally scaling bricks being the best option. Now direction is flooding in creating all kinds of rules, and all of them are bad, shortsighted, and grandiose.

At this point, i just wish they would release something officially so we could finally move on and start building again without worry of another serious change occurring soon after. I mean it has been nearly six months since there was any official update at all and i am starting to come under the distinct impression that this game is beginning to look like abandonware.. Its either that.. Or Schema has simply lost confidence in his vision or doesnt know what to do to make it right, in which case, you should either simply start working again from the last major update prior to this power fiasco. Or simply do like everyone is asking you to do and get rid of stabilizers!..

Just do something though.. Because 6 months is just plain ridiculous and doesn't help alleviate the lack of confidence in your ability brewing within the community. Whatever you do though. Do not feel as though you have to go through with this new power system just because you have invested so much time into trying to make it work. Because we all know a highly polished turd still stinks at the end of the day.

The ideas in my signature would be major improvements. They wouldn't fix everything, but would help a lot.

hope not, that'll mean we'll get stuck with the turd twister chamber system
It's not as much of a turd twister as it looks, the main problem is how badly the structural integrity and the stabiliser-reactor relations are done. If those could be somewhat rectified, this would actually be an interesting system to work with.

I agree, if the chamber system could be tweaked, stabalizor & intergrity mechanics re-done it could mostly be allright.

(For the love of Schema, devs please re-consider making Jump Drives a physical system again :,( Shoving everything into the reactor does not work well with me personaly at all).

basically you included everything this system brought on the plate... chambers have no in-game difference than the block based system, except not working proportionally to their size (they only either work or don't)

oh, and now we have dozen hidden healthbars, ypeee

I agree to some extent simply because this new system adds several new layers to system building that really only increases the learning curve while providing little benefit outside of decreasing overall space required to achieve the desired power output (which could have been achieved by a dozen other means that were far simpler and noob friendly)..

I will say however that the new system is certainly more realistic. (even though a true reactor would require a coolant loop, pressurizer/chamber, turbine/generator and a fuel source). While the "chambers" in this game seemingly act more like an electronic circuit or (ECM) then it does any reactor chamber.. I suppose my point is that while this system is slightly more realistic then the previous iteration.. It is still a far cry from making any damn sense.

But perhaps i wouldn't be so bitter about it all if i didn't have to gut out all of my old ships just to stuff them with some nonsensical and overly complicated system that may or may not remain in the future given how often coree mechanics change in this game. Now it may be an alpha game. But when you put it up for early access, build a large community, chase them off with the first major power change, slowly build up the base again only to chase them off again with another flawed system.. At some point you have to wonder if maybe a stroke occured at some point we were not made aware of...

Not to mention that even when they do figure this power system out. Then they are going to alter the weapon systems agaaaaiiin which will undoubtedly require every turret and weapons systems complete gutting and overhaul as well.. ffs... get your shit together Schine and stick to something already. Because i love this game to death, but i can't say the same for your unproductive and unsuccessful implementations in recent times.. Probably should have saved this crap for StarMade 2..

And beyond player issues of re-working our own ships... let's think for a moment about all the work that went into the content contest for the NPC fleets. That will all be flushed; all of the NPC ships will become useless junk.

it has been a month without official news, would have settled for a "happy new year" message.

I wonder if another ship contest will be held or if new ships will take forever because of a certain flying pile of memes.

I have to agree with that.. I recall at the end of every year since 2012 there being a "happy holidays" and/or "We wish you a happy new year and thanks for playing StarMade - schema and the Schine team" ..

I fear that the resentment runs too deep for niceties such as these any longer.. I also have this feeling that they just go on developing the game without any real releases aside from dev builds in an attempt to maximize workflow at the cost of leaving us on old official builds for extended lengths of time as they have done. Although i really hope i am wrong. Here's to hoping 2018 is a much better year for SM and the team. I truly hope you guys get it all worked out.. Happy new years Schine!

Extended official builds, as long as they are stable and functional would be preferred. When releases were more rapid it was hell on servers.

Well to be fair no one demands that you update right away. With StarMade it is always three steps forward and two steps back.

I pleaded many times with server owners to just wait and see how an update would behave before updating a server. Just give it a week and see what pops up on the forum bug wise.

If some of your server population can not understand this and threatens the leave then just ignore them. They are sure all to leave if the server dies because of unexpected bugs in a new update that destroys the server.

that's a bullshit excuse for the current state of affairs, the opposite actually: goes to show that the current set of rules need to get fixed

here's a controversial alternative: finish starmade with ship as it were, fixes to bobby ai and fleets. then go work for starmade 2. make us pay twice but release at least one finished game in our time frame!

anyway, in a game based on block building, one of said blocks being a conduit, why in hell do we have a purple turd snaking on ships now?
    Lol, purple turd.

I was refitting Xoza's Falcata NX with new power last night. The hull is big enough to accomodate 10k e/s with power chamber boost, but the twin fuselage kept giving me purple worm issues. Up to 7-8k I could keep the stabilizers in the widest part of the wings and got twin purple worms going off to the sides - perfect. But if I go higher than that and try to also put stabilizers in the front wingtips, the two worms merge into one and protrude out between in front. Nodes don't help, because it changes the path not the end-point.
I posted the finished refit. I was able to keep the twin purple worms from merging in the middle by switching some wing armor to stabilizers, and then "surface plated" over them with 1/4 blocks. I also updated the turrets to the new rail system. This was the first "artistic" ship I encountered when I started playing on Redshift a couple years ago. I found it just floating in space - so I blew it up and salvaged it. :)

Gotta say the end result is nice, and strangely, it works. Not sure how resilient in an actual fight, but hey... this already exceeded my expectations about power 2.0
