"Say hello to your fellow starmates. Tell us about yourself, how you got here and what you plan on accomplishing in the game. Include some interests, inspirations and goals you have"
Well, hello everyone.
I got here through a friend who suggested the game to me and I tried it a bit in the f2p and shortly afterwards decided to support it's development by buying it, due to the game being appealing on the design aspect, and logical combinations etc.
What do I want to accomplish? Hm, guess a space empire one day when I find a nice galaxy to..pacify. :D (Probably would have several factions in there so it won't be too easy)
Also designing ships I guess which can do their job but have a visual appealing and functional feel to it. So not only build borg cubes and call it a day but some thought into it of what would make sense, like why would an engine be here and could it even propel the ship forward.
The interior would be part of it and after some trial and error builds I think for now I'll settle to create the basic systems first and then build the actual ship around it as the game has some weird issues for me when it cuts out random chuns from bigger blueprints, like my 250m ship became a 30-ish meter ship after I did the reactor/shield, thrust parts leaving me with a bit of stabilizers, shields and a handful of thursters, oh and 2 AMS turrets which have been in place weirdly enough but aren't docked to anything anymore so it's not only a visual bug.
Hence I'm experimenting with smaller builds now in the 100m-ish size and see what I can achieve.
I Don't think they'll be masterpieces, especially not from a pvp standpoint where every mass point matters, but they should be decent enough to do their job as I initially said.
They'll have quarters, sanitary stuff, galley, brig, etc etc like a starship should have (in reality anyway) so one can enjoy a bit of downtime in the ships too.
Will probably upload finished ones as soon as I feel they're good enough :P (still a bit too boxy for me and details need some work but there's tons of inspiration out there anyway) Oh and the designs won't be copies or recreations but at best derivaties of designs but most lileky a combination of different elements.
And the ships might be modular enough so one could easily expand the "fleet" (or faction) of them too, so like a certain deck height and room dimension in general, would help tons for bigger ships anyway instead of doing each room per hand.
Not sure how deep I want to get into logic but there's some nice things one can do like the logic based charge and fire logic (plus opening the ship front) to fire the doombeam (or basically any weapon I guess), or the (simple) elevators which so far have only up/down and call buttons on each floor but no door opening or interference checks, but that shouldn't be too big of an issue for smaller ships, but for bigger ones, which several players on them, it would be needed.
So yeah, overall I want to design ships, stations, be creative and think things...lgically (god what an awful pun) :D And if someone else would like the stuff that's just a bonus thing.
Oh and almost forgot: German guy in his late 30's (probably behaving at leasth alf the age though >_>) with a tendency to overthink stuff, but that's just perfect for a game like this anyway.
