The entire faction system should be handled in game through menus and windows and not "just place blueprints in folder". So I would hope this is just a temporary place holder for when the full system is implemented.

Oh, yeah, it should definitely be added to the game itself. However, it could be helpful for the folders to exist for easy transferring of blueprints to where they need to go, without needing to boot up the game, join the server, and set them to usable by those NPC factions that way.The entire faction system should be handled in game through menus and windows and not "just place blueprints in folder". The full system is just a GUI implementation in the admin structure box that does exactly that, so... :pThe entire faction system should be handled in game through menus and windows and not "just place blueprints in folder". as a server owner i would like to see both the sub folders and admin controlled setting of blueprints to factions, for the simple fact that if i want certain ships/staions as pirates or traders ships etc. and don't want a rouge admin to mess about with my choices, any blueprints in sub folders are permanent and cannot be unset by any idiot with admin privileges, unlike blueprints that are set in game for factions that can be unset or even deleted by anyone with admin privilegesThe entire faction system should be handled in game through menus and windows and not "just place blueprints in folder". Yeah this would be great.as a server owner i would like to see both the sub folders and admin controlled setting of blueprints to factions, for the simple fact that if i want certain ships/staions as pirates or traders ships etc. and don't want a rouge admin to mess about with my choices, any blueprints in sub folders are permanent and cannot be unset by any idiot with admin privileges, unlike blueprints that are set in game for factions that can be unset or even deleted by anyone with admin privileges
we could get a folders ,combined with a menu system. Unchangeable ships maybe would show in the menu system but maybe have an * or [x] at the end or in front, lol or hell just have it shaded out slightly.Oh, yeah, it should definitely be added to the game itself. Those are pretty interesting ship designs... But when you expand on I-0 hulls, don't forget to re-add not just copies of the detail elements, but structural designs that are similar too... The Isanth-0, despite its chunky structure, doesn't look like a big box with engines and a control section sticking out. Your freighter shouldn't either. Try pulling that cockpit back into the lines of your freighter so it doesn't look strange, and also try and breaking up some of the flat angles on the top hull extension by making them appear "rounder" or something. Likewise, the two pirate ships need less silly wedges sticking out (Put them in the same level as the hull, at least) and avoid all the big black flat parallel-angled geometric surfaces, that gets boring.I posted a thread like this a short time before you MrSinister. I 100% agree with you and am glad to know that so many others want this as well.
Maybe this will help the devs: Here is a Trading Guild Armed Freighter that I Built.View attachment 4160
Here is a Pirate Ship I built called the nightshade.

I am currently working on a Trading guild escort. I'll share it when its done.
The problem is, I get Armed freighter Pirates and nightshade trading guild ships etc. We really need a way to designate which NPC factions can use what blueprints.
I really hope we get this feature soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heya, yeah I didnt see that thread, but I am glad we are wanting the same thing. I have designed a lot of ships for pirates and trade guild as well as others, in hopes they add the folders for each faction. Some are pictured on my shipyard thread, though I did not state which ones are for what....lolI posted a thread like this a short time before you MrSinister. Thanks for the constructive criticism Ithirahad. Those are pretty interesting ship designs... one of my Trading Guild ships
Yes, I do mean to build similar elements on. I see what you were going for with the freighter, but the result is that it looks like a flying Eastern Long-Necked Turtle with an awkward flat top... Pulling the cockpit back and maybe adding some slight rounding on the top would unify the lines a bit more. Also, the side surfaces could use something minor to make them slightly more interesting... Since it's a Trading Guild ship, you could always try little patches of ice crystal, say, replacing two of the wedges in the centers of the surfaces. Thanks for the constructive criticism Ithirahad.
I have a couple of questions. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "don't forget to re-add not just copies of the detail elements, but structural designs that are similar too... The Isanth-0," To me it seems that you are saying to build similar elements onto my ships and not just straight out copy elements. Is that what you are saying? If not, please expand further on what you mean. Honestly though, I was kinda going for the big box with engines and a control section look. That to me was what I thought a freighter inspired by I-0 would look like, and I was kinda afraid I was making the the ship look too cool when I extended the weapons ridges as far back as I did. If you'd like to redesign my freighter I think that would be awsome too. I love it when a big community like this can take each others ideas and make them better! But I'll keep your suggestions in mind and see how I can improve the freighter.
If you want jagged and menacing, make it part of the hull surface, not something silly sticking out. Put zigzagging edges on the back or front or use the pink wedges, but embedded in the hull as "vent"-type structures or something, I don't know. The wedges, which even you admit are silly, don't make it look menacing - They just make it look, well, silly. The other question is about my pirate ships. I was a little disappointed to read that you didn't like all my silly wedges sticking out everywhere. I try not to over do it, but that's my way of making pirate ships look more jagged and menacing. If I am to try to use less wedges, how would you suggest keeping a jagged menacing look for pirate ships? I'd love to try that out, cause sometimes I feel my ships look silly too. I just haven't come up with a better idea yet.
Eh, generally speaking, on ships of that size, random details don't offset boring flat surfaces unless they're part of said flat surface. But if I were you, I'd get the 'flower' off of the front section, round it off somewhat, flat sections a bit (Try "stairstepping" the wedge (angular) surfaces so that they extend out more.) and, as I said earlier, remove or replace the silly wedges. No evil raiding ship should have a Mohawk. When you talked about all those big black flat geometric surfaces I think you you had the Scarab in mind. Am I right? I admit, It's not the coolest looking ship but I kinda designed it to offset the the Nightshade. It turned out to be a bit of a glass canon. So I made the Scarab to be able to be a hit tank. I tried to offset all those large flat shapes with elements like the green venting, the sensor dish in front, and more silly wedges. But I'll think about it. Again, if you'd like to redesign it, I'd love to see what you come up with.
lol, but it sure is interesting to look at, if not at least catch your attention. No evil raiding ship should have a Mohawk.
Yes, but it's kind of goofy and doesn't do the design any good.lol, but it sure is interesting to look at, if not at least catch your attention.
I can agree with that.Yes, but it's kind of goofy and doesn't do the design any good.
