I want the ability to become friends and enemies with AI factions and if you are allied with the alien salvagers and the alien salvagers are enemies with the trading guild, the trading guild will like your faction less. Maybe there could be a friendship meter with factions and certain things effect the level. E.g. attacking there ship, destroying them, trading resources, being friends with their enemies ect. The meter can be 0-100, 0 being they hate you and will continually attack you and will dislike your allies more, 50 is neutral and 100 is your faction is best friends with the faction and they will support you anytime, anywhere.

Agree. Pirates will be lonely or only together with other pirates...

But then a player should be able to have 2 names for more than one (option number) character.
Character name : unique per player EDIT: and per server (like a ship name, but should be distinguishable)
Family name : unique per server (servers may allow only family name == username) with option2 (true|false)

    Why?
If a player wants to play 2 roles or have a family, let him. Set defaults to one character per player and family-name == username

That would mostly be usefull to teleport to a limited number of other places in PvP, RolePlay and playing one faction when your lonely, another when your friends are on.

I think we also need something to prevent coorporatism. A little bit is good, but too many and the players have no opportunity to fight each other (PvP)

Especially if you can't be friend with your other friend's enemy, factions will condense into mega-companies supressing each opposition before it starts to be a treat.

All part of God- err, I mean Schema's great plan :) I'm sure this functionality will be available eventually. I guess he'd prefer to finish working on the default stations first.

I thought about that problem a lot.
I mean until now you are able to create new NPC factions but for what?
My first thought was to place a "dummy" member in a specific NPC faction. Than upload some blueprints with this member and let the BPs be usable by AI.
BUT for now the blueprint is available for every NPC faction. And at this point there could be just a little change that only the BPs given by the "dummy" member are available for the NPC faction.

A mix between "faction only" and "enemy usable"
That would be so great and easy to handle

Yeah which is why I suggested a simple folder for each :) that way when more factions are added all that needs to be done is to create the corresponding folder.

But having an ingame option would be great as well. than i don't have to log on the server all the time.
But all this small things does not matter as long as we get an option to do it!!!

The way to do this would be with a folder for each faction, in this folder you'd have the blueprints and a regular fucking Config file, this config would contain stuff like initial stance and modifiers for other factions, as well as default for unlisted factions. You could be able to set its AI to other, and on varying degrees, settings.
As i said the blueprints will be stored along with the config in that factions folder, in the config you'll be able to decide its fleet:

blueprint: [input the blueprints file name here]
Spawnrate: 0 > [The higher the number the lower the relative chance to spawn, -1 to disable]
type: [Is it a cargo ship? is it an escort? Is it a hunter? Ship behavior]
Value: How important the ship is, would make other less valuable ships protect it, -1 to set it to the block cost? (Loot could be based on this)
Firepower: how much DPS the AI thinks it will have, -1 for actual value
bravery: If the enemy has enough DPS (And maybe some other values perhaps) to surpass its own DPS* its own bravery they will retreat/take a more defensive course of actions (Default would be more than 1 at least)
support: If 2 ships with 2 "support" and the same DPS attacked another ship they'd think that they have twice their combined DPS, so they can take on an enemy up to fourtimes their own strength

and so on, however something like this would be cool; Wolf packs, deciding how some preset groups would look like

    ship_array: {ship1, ship2, 5 ship3.....} what ships wolf pack is made of
target: ex; Shop/station/players practically where and to where they'll travel. the trade guild ships that refill shops would be set to "shop"
valuemod: to simulate a convoy tendansy, to act as if they got more/better cargo
Stance: How they'll react to enemies
    Backup: list
backupdelay: delaying the backup, boss battles?
    formation

yeah i gotta go now but i think you can fill in these yourself right?

ok everyone, I noticed in the catalog there was a permissions option, is this just player options for other players or is there a way to give trading guild there own ships and pirates, etc.? or can this be expanded upon to include those options in case we don't get the faction ship folders and schema goes the route of permissions boxes.

    As it stands now:

    Permissions Box = [ ] Faction [ ] Other [ ] Homebase [ ] Enemy Usable

The question I have is, what does Other mean? like other players not in a faction /or trading guild? and wouldnt faction and homebase be the same? or would homebase mean those vehicles would only be available at the homebase? I think I missed a patch note or something that had an in-depth explanation. Couldn't we also get a check box for Trading Guild? ;)

There is currently no way to separate the ships that the trade guild use from the pirates. I hope we eventually get the ability to add whatever AI factions we want to the game. I would love to see warring factions with their own territory and ships.

Yeah, I was just needing some clarification on what " Other " meant. Also, the Home Base and Faction are a bit obtuse to me as well, sine I look at it like....don't you have to have a faction in order to have a home base? course it could be my military background confusing things. If it is a personal base, couldn't it say Personal Base instead? It's just odd how schema kinda just skips over either the faction folders, or add 1 more check box [ ] Trading Guild ......lol

Right now "Other" just means other players, makes it a public Blueprint really. I never really understood "faction homebase", I guess BPs used to only be usable at shops, and BPs with that checked could be gotten at a Faction's homebase only?

Hmm, thank you for the info. And about the " homebase ", I could see that working as you describe.
