Okay guys. Since my last "Real" update, I've added nearly
700,000 blocks to the build, and expect there to be a lot more before just the hull of this new segment is completed. I'd say it's a sizeable addition, but I think I'll let the pictures speak for themselves:
I'd also like to provisionally announce that, pending the original author's approval, I've decided to use modified versions of the Banshee Fleet Bomber Revision B, and the Frostwynd-D Interceptors for the
Monolith's Primary Heavy Bomber and Heavy Fighter, respectively. Some tweaks were necessary to make the vessels more carrier-friendly, such as moving the core backwards to be closer to the center of the vessel (makes docking easier, less wasted space) as well as a reduction in interior space, the addition of exterior navigation lights (toggleable, the banshee has not had it's refit done yet), some minor performance tweaks, and a fresh coat of paint:
But that's not all I've been doing. I've also been putting together Gravity elevators (not ready to show those yet) to connect the floors together.
Meanwhile, JSEM has not been idle, either. He's been going nuts designing interior spaces that I can't help but smile at. So far I've only had to yell at him for doors being too small three-ish times. Here's what he's been up to:
In addition, I've been doing a little work on the Medical deck:
And JSEM built us a lovely new Medium Fighter:
However, It is worth noting that things are
about to get ugly on the exterior hull. The addition of the new hangar means the entire back end of the ship will need to be lopped off, and rebuilt. This means all the Drive Thrusters are going to get Redone .
However, they will be in the same positions, just they'll be
longer, and contain more
thrust. Huehuehuehue.
So for those worrying that I was going to burn out on this project just because I lost my job, Worry not. That being said, all these fucking 1x1x10 lengths the back half is made up of are going to literally be the death of me.
