best long range defense is a 1:1 Missile/Damage beam combo. the Ai does not need to have line of sight nor lock on time to fire a super accurate homing missile at enemy ships.
As for the AI ability for other weapons its just as ToyotaSupra says
i remember getting into minecraft cuz i wanted to build a massive floating base and make it look like a spaceship.
I remember quite vividly my first world and how my spaceship base turned into a floating square made out of cobblestone rather than a cool looking metal ship. Good times

while this isn't a real suggestion for the game its something that should help deal with the boat load of repeat suggestions and threads asking about upcoming features. if this isn't appropriate for this forum, Mods please move

All of YES! I've been thinking for a while on how to make automated anti-missile blast shields and having weapon triggered area triggers could do just that.
aren't we eventually going to have limited item stacks anyways? even with unlimited stacks it still takes up nearly my entire inventory to build a decent looking ship. hot swapping items will begin to get really annoying.
either way were going to have some kind of micro-managing with inventory...

More appropriate Title: It is possible to "George Jetson" my ship?
Answer: Unfortunately no. once a blueprint has been spawn theres no way to revert it back to a completed Blueprint
actually i think the middle mouse button should be used to place selected blocks in its "Off/Alternate" State.
for instance you could place a light block in its off state rather than placing it then turning it off
I totally agree. The Signature weapon of my shipyard is the Boom Lance, a Logic triggered Damage Pulse Bayonet. While I love using it i admit Damage pulses are kind of weak as a primary and desperately needs a buff.
For a time i thought that giving them the ability to pass through shields...
Starmades long overdue for ladders. however i don't believe that the scaffolding block should be the ladder, they don't really look the part. Perhaps a more defined ladder block, something similar to Minecraft's one.
it would help a lot since gravity lifts don't work on planets and plexlifts...
