      INSANELY POSITIVE FEEDBACK: SITTING

Sure, we need remote access to the core so we can encase the stupid thing in solid advanced armor or put it in the middle of a reactor core if we want. I bet that's not too far off, as such a feature has been requested alongside chairs for a very long time. The thing is, that's a computer, and...

      INSANELY POSITIVE FEEDBACK: SITTING

Why would you need to link anything? Just sit down and activate the system with R. The immersion is better that way (in my opinion) and it can already be done (and it has fewer potential problems). The avatar just needs to be visible when the system is active.

      INSANELY POSITIVE FEEDBACK: SITTING

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see something like that added very soon.

      INSANELY POSITIVE FEEDBACK: SITTING

The next thing would be animating the head as the player looks left and right, with a shoulder-twisting movement when the character looks more than 90 degrees from forward. That can be added later though, with other inevitable avatar animation improvements.

      INSANELY POSITIVE FEEDBACK: SITTING

As many of us already know, characters can now sit on things in the new dev build. There is no chair block, but characters sit halfway down wedges making them look rather like chairs. I really like the way this was implemented as I can put my butt wherever I darn well please (reasonable...

      Starmade, meet Tesla.

There are a lot of players who want fuel, perhaps renewable fuel from starlight. An additional gamemode with emphasized survival aspects like fuel, oxygen, food, water, and medicines seems likely in the future. The thing is, we don't need to freak out one way or another as long as the game...

      Starmade, meet Tesla.

Some players consider starmade's infinite energy from "nowhere" unrealistic. However, it's possible that such energy could be generated from ambient cosmic rays. Mix Nicola Tesla's inventions with some sci-fi tech and materials and you've got some serious power! While many players would like...

Who else doesn't like the new planets?

That didn't help. The planets still lag like heck while they generate. I guess if you have a quad-core CPU it would load them really fast. Once generated, they work normally.

Dodecahedron Planet Improvement Ideas (old and new)

Dev Build New Universe New planet I see: Abnormally high lag I can walk across edges without being disoriented I turn right-side-up when I get out of a ship. Whatever seems so obvious to you is not obvious to everyone else. You're beginning to make me angry. What else am I supposed to see...

Dodecahedron Planet Improvement Ideas (old and new)

The only amazing thing I noted was that I could walk over plate boundaries without my viewpoint rotating to a seemingly random position, and gravity is improved. Is that all you were referring to? I didn't see anything else remarkable. The planets look the same otherwise. It's possible I...

Who else doesn't like the new planets?

I used to complain about dodecahedrons and suggest all manner of elaborate ways to do away with segments and force an approximation of a sphere into the game, but the truth is that anything of that scale will wind up taking a year or more to code and get working well. Even then, all the n00bs...

Dodecahedron Planet Improvement Ideas (old and new)

Bumping this thread as it seems to have gotten lost. I think it's getting fewer replies than expected because I covered everything so well.

      Animated water

Unfortunately, the engine does not support real liquids, which is why I made this thread in the first place. At the moment, water is not a liquid but a decoration, although much of the community hopes that Schema will find an appealing, well-optimized solution to liquids sometime in the near or...

Recognized Turrets system with Pictures - [ Poll]

Of course the weapons would fire through the barrels. I think at the very least, the entirety of the primary weapon system should be placed in the barrel, while support systems and effects could reasonably be placed in the main body.

Recognized Turrets system with Pictures - [ Poll]

I'd say implement the two-segment turrets now and worry about clipping or no clipping later once the bugs are worked out of the basics. Just let them clip for the time being. In the long run, this would probably be the least laggy solution: Body may clip Barrel may clip into body Barrel may...

      A Few Thoughts on Updates

I thought the play testing that was done with the recent crafting update was really good. The dev server is the place for things like that, before the rest of the servers get the new game-changing content.

      A Few Thoughts on Updates

Everyone always seems impatient for the next big update. The community hears what is planned, goes crazy, and wants it right now like a lot of excited children. That's all well and good, of course, but it's no reason to rush updates out too fast. In fact, the game might be more playable if...

      Ideas on Planet Generation

I like this idea a lot. It would be a whole lot more interesting, especially if there are new attributes added that none of the current planets have. Yep. I'd like to be able to scan a planet and get stats like approximate mass, radius, ore types and concentration, climate, etc.

Why didn't I think of that? :D Great idea.
