In Developement Cockpits: Simple solution (remote core access)

In this thread, I've revisited an old idea with a simple solution. Please give feedback such as things that may need to be added to achieve this goal, or ways to make the feature more reliable or balanced, or ideas for solving potential problems with this feature. Goal: To be able to walk into...

      station blocks on ships

Something like that, although I think the factory should require slightly more resources as well to further motivate the use of stationary factories. Most people won't be put off at all by double energy and time, so I think there needs to be a resource tradeoff.

      Expand on the Lua interface.

There's a Lua interface already in place? I didn't even know it existed. How in the world does one access and use this and what can it do?

      Omicron crew

Thus far, my server's roleplay has treated NPC crews as androids. Given how dumb they are and the fact that you purchase them and don't have to pay them afterwards, that seemed reasonable. They do need to be able to sit on stuff. That should be added to the command menu. Supposedly they will...

      Ground combat moves

Yes, with some proper on-foot combat mechanics and some survival content, there's a whole new side of starmade that could be created. I'd also like to see swimming, even if ships couldn't enter water just yet. Also, is it just me or do the key bindings seem a little silly and hard to reach? I...

Easier copy/paste box placement (and more)

But I don't have a number pad. I'd rather use shift+arrow keys. What's really needed is the ability to bind keys with a modifier key (eg. shift+W) to do things and not worry too much about default key bindings.

Implemented Save player relative to ship upon logout

All of that stuff is cool, but for some reason, to me, it just seems like it'd be simpler to save the character's position on the ship. That would allow beds and stuff to have other purposes. (Survival content will probably happen eventually.) Still, it would be cool for a character sitting in...

Implemented Save player relative to ship upon logout

A statsis chamber sounds interesting. It's pretty far removed from what I originally had in mind and a lot more trouble to use (and probably code) but actually seeing the frozen character in it would be cool.

      Change to Linear Dampening

That's an old feature that's been around forever. It is what the OP suggested changing because "space friction" is the stupidest sci-fi garbage ever and it would be nice for each ship to have its own (thruster based) setting.

Easier copy/paste box placement (and more)

More like several minutes. Select the destination of the core first, punch an "execute" button and wait. If calculations per person are limited properly, build mode cannot cause lag.

Easier copy/paste box placement (and more)

BIG, FAT, GREEN, ALL-CAPS "YES!" I think I'll add this thread to my signature. Since limiting selection size is annoying, and doesn't work well with this idea, I think instead of limiting the box size there should be a limit on the number of calculations per second per player, with a little...

      Default Trade Station Poll

I'm uwatching this thread as it is a waste of my time.

      Optional Consumables

Wow. This thread got derailed hard! It's a thread about "Optional Consumables," silly people. Anyway, I think we should be careful not to implement too many types of consumables. Adding a type of ammo for every effect would make a lot of ammo types, unless missiles, beams, and...

How do you want the Rating System to work?

Responding with a post complaining about someone being rude only causes flame wars. Rudeness does not always run awry of the forum rules. The point is not getting under one another's skin, but that incivility is unpleasant even for a mature person. Some folks probably don't even realize...

      Banking, robberies and policing

If this includes the addition of bounty missions, it could be interesting. It seems a little silly in a way, though. In an electronic accounting system like Starmade, credits would be most often stolen by hacking alone due to lack of much/any physical currency.

      Omicron crew

To me, it seems like world immersion would be greater if one were to remain in one's own body, and immersion is a great concern in offline play. The NPCs definitely need more work put into them, more (artificial) intelligence, more tasks they can perform, and some personality and variety...

      station blocks on ships

I'm all for undeathinators onboard ships. Power draw would be the most reasonable way to balance them. I'd also like to see factories on ships, but with a slight nerf to efficiency (presumably due to vibrations, inertia, and gyroscopic force onboard a ship). I mean, there are plenty of sci-fi...

      Long Range Gunnery

This would be more appropriate for an NPC crewman, but I really like that idea. Everyone knows the "AI" in "BOBBY AI" stands for "Artificial Idiocy" anyway. ;) AIs can learn, yes, but anything that would increase their weapon accuracy would come stock anyway. Learning would be more like...

How do you want the Rating System to work?

In the absence of facial expressions and vocal tones, some form of feedback is useful. Most inconsiderate remarks fall well in-between those two categories. It would also start to become obvious when someone has a habit of being rude, and no one wants to be that guy. I have a feeling the...
