      New build helper: Hexadecagon

*facepalm* I'm too used to typing "dodecahedron."

Valiant's Excessive and Insane Power Rework Ideas

You actually can escape a planet with a core. You just have to catapult it off a plate edge.

      New build helper: Hexadecagon

Circles are great, but sometimes they're hard to work with as they are irregular block-wise. I've found that hexadecagons work better under some circumstances as they look almost circular and are more regular block-wise. I would like to have a build helper to make building them easier.

      Semi-Proper Explosions

As others have stated, space missiles cannot use normal explosives, as explosives rely on the atmosphere to transfer a shockwave. These are obviously some kind of photon, plasma, or particle warhead. That's not to say a similar effect doesn't make sense. At any given angle, the spherically...

Factory on ship greater than 250K blocks

I think there is a planned capital ship system that allows station blocks on ships with some drawbacks. I don't know how far away that is though, and I've heard very little of it.

      HP based mining

Uncapturable planets won't happen. If players get frustrated enough they'll build a missile death star and attack from sectors away.

      HP based mining

This still has the issue of stratifying server databases by saving way too many planets that no one is even using. I think orbital mining just needs to go away.

Rich Ore and Unstable Ore: Ending Orbital Mining and Making Surface Mining Fun

What if planetary ore were far, far richer than asteroid ore, but but impossible to collect with salvage beams? If it were valuable ENOUGH then it would attract player to planets. These new ores would be called Rich Ores and Pure Crystals, and they would spawn commonly on planets and rarely on...

      Curious Fuel Survey

This would be non-linear up to the soft cap, just like now. This would seem to cover most of the concerns listed here. Agreed. We need methods of resource acquisition other than shooting beams at stuff. We need the ability and a reason to build facilities and farms and such to get resources...

      Dev Blog : June 12th 2015

Oh no.... I hope the bugs don't carry over. I currently have to start the first part of the launcher twice in a short amount of time to get the second part to work, and that's on a good day. To make this work more often, I have created a second copy of the starmade starter jar and launch two...

      Curious Fuel Survey

I liked the idea of fuel being required for ships using over 1m e/sec. There was another idea derived partially from someone else's idea that I posted in another thread: All ships get a certain amount of free power. The ratio of free power to fueled power diminishes up to a hard-soft cap...

Exactly. Some little capsule that turns into either H2 and O2 (for fuel cells), tritium (for fusion), antimatter, or exotic vacuum (for zero point) when activated. :P

      Curious Fuel Survey

I actually had an idea where there were several types of generators, each with its own fuel and each able to burn a "universal fuel" that is created from pure energy (but of course requires you to burn something else to make it). Universal fuel would have a lower end yield than individual fuel...

That still fits into generally pro-fuel. What most people envision as fuel probably WOULD be boring.

Rejected Rails as a option not a replacement

zigyzigy is right. This was a foolish comment. Again, no offense intended but it's the truth. The old turrets were inferior. They clipped, they had HUGE blind spots above them, and they were ugly in operation. It is now possible to build a turret with firing arcs greater than a full hemisphere...

Or it could be a good thing. Several small factions might band together to frag a bully empire. Small factions are at a disadvantage regardless of the reason for conflict. Generating more conflict is often interesting rather than bad. Once again, configurability will save the day if this has...

      Curious Fuel Survey

There are a lot of people who complain every time someone mentions adding fuel to the game, and I want to know what the most common reasons are. If your reason for not liking fuel is not here, let me know and I'll add it. Please comment when you vote so this thread stays visible. Votes are...

Valiant's Excessive and Insane Power Rework Ideas

This is why astronauts need core-like flight capability built into their suits. The current method of movement is insufficient, inconvenient, and unrealistic. Exponentially increasing fuel cost sounds like a good idea to me. This would make small ships more efficient as well as cheaper. This...
