      I think this is planned as part of the future expansion of shipyards. Apparently we're getting critters first... Oh well. At least a different part of the Starmade community will be mighty pleased. I like fauna too, but there are more pressing matters regarding cores, cockpits, and shipyards IMO.

      There is no need to remove the original logic blocks. That said, there is every reason to implement this system or something similar as it would undeniably benefit a lot of players. There is also no reason NOT to implement such a system provided that current builds don't break.

      Sounds like fun, but the background work that would be required to make the thermal visor work would be considerable. Certain blocks would have to be programmed to glow in the infrared spectrum for that visor, and making systems brighter when in use would take time too.

      I'm pretty sure there are already plans for a survival mode, and with something more original than using a shop block. :) The public roadmap shows flora and fauna (plants and animals) content, which could factor into the eventual addition of survival resources.

      Nope. That's pretty simple. Well, except for the blocks increasing in mass. That might require some engine edits as there are no blocks that do that currently.

      They have a bad reputation. They're ugly/bad marketing due to their reputation. They're unnecessary. Give a full feature set and factor the cost into purchase price. It's a more elegant solution. I just hate microtransactions (and I'm not alone).
