Astronaut built-in jetpack, controls like ship, as fast as core.

Astronaut mode controls are difficult to use (no ability to roll, looking around seems to rotate oddly) and painfully slow. Any time you really want to go somewhere, you use a core to spawn a new ship that needs to be deleted or left behind when you arrive. This is downright silly, and there's a...

Another take at the bubble shield stuff

The first post comes in at over 30 paragraphs. It's a legitimate reason to not like the post, and there isn't a button to say "long-winded" or "a bad idea". Ultimately, if the bubble shield's anything but vaguely round, I'm against it. I don't want a big ugly box around my ships. You're...

      The Ultimate Interior Room list

-Exercise room -Navigation room -Astrometrics -Diplomacy room -Escape pod bays -Solitary confinement -Deflector control -Briefing room (different from conference room in that it's usually got more space, as it's meant for primarily one-way communication. Star Trek usually just used the...

      AI Turret random laser deviation

I'd rather have random deviation in which way rapid-fire projectiles go than random deviation in the aim of the AI shooting them. For now, this is acceptable, but seeing someone evading pirates going in a straight line for ages was...almost facepalm-worthy. I worry that ships will need dozens of...

      SotS 1 ships by Nebbie

Progress on the cruiser halted due to problems with getting a good sense of what's going on in the engine area. I'm going to make a quick Tarka destroyer tomorrow, then begin work on the cruiser's command section.

Control chairs:a replacement for ship cores to help solve core drilling w/out abstract ship health.

I think, for the most part, Space Engineers makes more logical choices in ship design. StarMade may, by necessity, use more simple designs to achieve better performance (SE has 2-meter long large ship blocks and it still has trouble handling much more than one medium ship in even singleplayer)...

Control chairs:a replacement for ship cores to help solve core drilling w/out abstract ship health.

Moving the actual core creates problems because all blocks use the core as a reference point for position purposes. As to the diamonds issue, I think that there would still be a diamond (one for each control chair, actually), but of a different kind that's hidden by default. You could try...

Bug Dev build:Segments of ship permanently invisible.

There's one (technically 4 due to symmetry) penta in the ring that, when there, causes derendering.

Update: progress on the cruiser has moved slower than planned. I've finished the basic node ring shape (likely I'll just put some engines inside it later). Screenshots:

Bug Dev build:Segments of ship permanently invisible.

I was building a ship in the second may 14th dev build earlier when, upon placing a block, parts of it became invisible (but completely interactible. Blocks can be placed/removed, damaged, and everything. They even show the name in build mode when looking at them). Repeated restarting of the...

      SotS 1 ships by Nebbie

That's the human Sword of the Stars ships for ya. I actually found just now that this version is fatter in some places than it should be and made a new version with no bedroom, a skinnier middle, and an almost non-existent neck (I'm not sure whether in the lore they even have a door in the neck...

Figures that Dropbox by default assumes you and only you want access to the stored stuff. The "share link" thing doesn't seem to be working, too (images don't seem to link correctly in the post); looks like I'll be using imgur for a bit. EDIT:Changed links, but the ship download's still on...

      SotS 1 ships by Nebbie

With all this replica shipbuilding going on, I'm a bit amazed that I've still yet to find anyone making Sword of the Stars ships. They're real beauties, even if most of the details are too small for StarMade. I've built a 1:1 scale SotS Human DE-class ship (Standard Command, Armor, Fission) and...

The default for max segments loaded is pretty low. Your computer might be able to handle more.

      Squirrel's To-Scale Full-Interior Star Wars Ships

Full scale ships with interiors are somewhat of a rarity. The only criticism I have in that the exteriors don't quite look right, but it's very hard to avoid that in StarMade.

      star wars shipyard by El_Poulpy

2:1 being such a good scale is why Space Engineers has small scaled-down blocks for small ships. Hopefully StarMade will have such a thing one day. Star Wars ships in general seem like anything below a frigate would be difficult to do. They have a lot of interior space and very small turrets...

      Planetary environments

I'd like this, but only if planets got much bigger. They're too small currently.

      More flexible "stealth ship" requirements

I think the main problem with the current system for cloaking is actually that efficient power reactors require ridiculous designs that make stealth ships long, spindly, and ugly (bare systems everywhere. About the prettiest one I've seen, made by ApexAurajin I think, only had basic hull...

      Poll for FTL travel

A significant delay in ship FTL was mentioned by Calibiri in the last Q&A. The way it was described indicated that there would be an imaginary (not real since you couldn't use it for anything else and it's normally empty...) in-engine reservoir that would take minutes to charge it up from your...
