Put simply, shields are better than armor in every important way right now except scalability (and even then shields usually win out until you get to utterly enormous sizes), and the only thing sort of saving armor is that it can absorb any excess damage over what it takes to break a block per...
I can just imagine my ships having doors that slide open and gun turrets that emerge from ports and landing gear that slide out.
This would really need a way of controlling select blocks from inside the ship, so it would need a controller block. It probably would also need to work like docking...
While undergoing severe lag (up to 5000 ms ping time) recently I tried to swap white hardened hull blocks with whit lights and the lights didn't take the place of the hull. Further movement (I thought it was a display bug and in Minecraft further stack movement usually updates things) of the...
Very annoying when building, as these errors usually cause me to be stuck moving in a direction until I press that direction's movement key.
Here's the relevant portion of a log file:
[Oct 7, 2013 6:07:58 PM] STDERR: [SKIN] REFRESH LOADING ./client-skins/Nebbie/s.brierie.co/Scath.png AS...
Very annoying with stars since you get all that light right in your face. I\'ve taken to not making interior windows in my stations and ships because of this.
If this were fixed, turrets would be a lot cooler (and switching to them in ship would be viable). Turrets should just remember their pre-occupied active/inactive state and there should be a button to activate all docked turrets from the ship they\'re docked to.
I actually like the hardened hull, but it\'s something that I think would only be great in small amounts. I\'m not sure it would look too good making up the entirety of an outer hull. It\'s kind of like brick or solid gold/lapis/redstone/etc. in most Minecraft texture packs. Makes for great...
Some limitations with different factory blocks having different available recipes would be nice. This new system will still make for interconnection, but I fear I\'ll be screwed with random recipes like Yhole -> Hull and Hardened requiring L5s. At the very least we need limits on what could be...
Certainly fits in more with some of the other textures, but the bright dashed lines stand out too much and make it look kinda silly (especially since they don\'t line up with anything on the other textures, note that in the default texture pack the standard hull bits align with bits on other...
To elaborate a bit on my previous post, I think the hardened hull actually looks the worse of the two. The standard hull just clashes with the pack (which is looking better and better btw. I might actually start using decorative panels), while it seems to me the hardened actually manages to...
Using this makes the hulls of ships look amazing and they fit in alright with the rest of the textures being default.
I\'m sure though that the beams and such will look amazing once this is complete.
This\'ll be epic if it gets implemented, but I think it\'ll need NPCs with guns to really be effective otherwise it\'s just another way to hit max credits fast with little effort.
The current situation with power consumption is ridiculous. Just like the problem with shields, actually building something resembling a hull hinders you far too much compared to a skeletal frame of essential blocks.
This being in the bugs section is very confusing. I\'ll repost my ideas from the official texture thread I guess.
General:Needs a slightly higher resolution. 64x64 would probably be good.
Hull:standard stuff looks like crap, while hardened is a bit too fancy and smooth. All the colors except...
If every StarMade player out there knew exactly how to build it and helped, it might only take a week.
Alone, you would never finish it. It\'s just too big.
