      Thermite is Fun!

Which would make them completely pointless.

      Thermite is Fun!

I imagine there could be some difficulty in getting the game engine to do that (similar to how moving the core would be more complicated then people imagine, and it would almost definitely exclude things like elevators and other moving parts of a ship. Essentially anything that moves will need...

      Cannon with explosive effects

Explosive it good for cannons that are already punching through a lot, so usually big cannons.

      Tetsudo heavy carrier frigate 1.0

The Tetsudo is a hybrid between a heavy frigate and carrier, intended for multi-role use, particularly dealing with larger pirate fleets or assaulting stations. It features a roleplay friendly, if a little spartan, interior accommodating 22 crew members (more if bed sharing), complete with...

      Custom NPC Races or Factions

Dunno about races but custom, and procedural generated, NPC factions are planned. If the development timeline is anything to go by it's one of the next things.

Devote One Development Cycle to Fixing Shipyards

Alternatively NPC ran ship yards could work, where you can see your ship being built.

What did you do in Starmade today?

Got the Drone launching facilities done on the Carrier Frigate I've been working on. Now I just need weapons/systems and a bit of neatening up the exterior and I'll be done. Might need to wait until the new battery system gets added though, not sure whether the soft cap will be enough to...

      Thermite is Fun!

There's a a good amount of things bigger ships are better at. Tanking, either with layers of armour (good look doing anything with a non augmented power tank using drone against a few layers of advanced armour with the passives up), or with shield recharge (devout a few million to shield...

      Thermite is Fun!

Nobody "hates" big ships. They dislike gigantism, there's a difference.

Would you call cannon-cannon-effect weapons "tier 3"?

I really don't see what the point here is. You *could* call different weapon set ups "tiers" based on effectiveness/complexity, if you really wanted to. There wouldn't really be much point, beyond the Starmade communities innate need to classify everything, since it would more then likely just...

      Thermite is Fun!

Pretty much the only thing that scales linearly is weapon size. Even then it's a bit deceptive, as it's only really shield damage that's linear. Penetration has some diminishing returns, and multiple outputs have a power penalty that can add up on larger weapons. Shielding, armour (well, sort...

      Thermite is Fun!

The problem with modular building isn't just that "more ships = more lag". It's that having a fairly large entity nestled inside of a bigger entity means you have lots of fairly intensive collision calculations happening pretty much all the time. Especially in combat, where it has to share...

      Thermite is Fun!

On the other hand, the game could be optimized to handle a variety of different ship sizes working in tandem, and designed in a way to encourage fleet diversification etc instead of making the game about who can bring the biggest ship. The explosive reactors are a part of that.

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Here seems like as good a place as any, though drones are pretty straight forward now. There's probably some more advanced things I'm missing, but launch rails are pretty much as usable as any push beam set up and pick up points are simple to use. The only real thing about them is it's a good...

Scorpion Fleet Shipyards (WIP: Battlestar Pegasus)

Just popping in as a reminder that your ships are good, and I'm looking forward to seeing your Basestar.

      Criss' Thread

Meh, the official factions fleets are aesthetics first, function second tbh. They're there because they look interesting.

      Large ship stats query

I was under the impression that beams were meant to pierce until they hit any block with an armour rating, so beams issues against armour is probably intentional. I could be wrong there though, haven't really messed around with it.

Is Starmade going to be a Survival or RTS style of game?

I don't really think this thread is a useful way of looking at the game. Starmades "survival" elements are always going to come down to "Do I have a good enough ship to survive what might come after me?". There's no real need for keeping track of depleting meters etc like the typical survival...

Charon 2.0 - A WIP super titan [Update 5 : new medium turret]

Systeming can be really tedious on bigger ships, so I can feel your pain there.

What did you do in Starmade today?

Continued a bit of work on my new mini Battlestar project, decided to completely redo the flight pods so the drones launch outwards instead of forwards, since it makes storing them a little less laggy. Also putting more drone storage on the bottom of the ship.
