My frigates are equivilant to most peoples\' small fighters. Size is reletive. There is no standard unit of measurement for ship classification. It is based on role. You can have an aircraft carrier that only holds one plane. Or you can have a battleship that has 1000000 guns.

Current weapon mechanics, it doesnt matter how exposed the ship is. As long as you have enough shields, you can have the core 100% exposed. Armor is like paper with uncapped AMCs.
