      It can do neither of these things. It can sit in place and defend a single sector, or it can mine in the same sector as a manned flagship. A patrol implies an actual route across multiple sectors, and mining would ideally work while not in loading range of the ships.

      I'd recommend a blanket disable of effects upon docking that doesn't actually deactivate chambers, just makes them have 0% effect or whatever. Having to either reactivate everything manually or have an extra activator and NOT-gate just to have the stuff activate when undocked sounds annoying.

      They said that they are going to try and avoid redundant chambers that don't do anything you could accomplish by simply adding more normal blocks. So, no effective shield capacity increases (Ion effect) or permanent thrust increases, unless they've changed their plans.

      Uhm, no. An entity is an entity, and isn't defined by a core. You can/could create an entity via file editing or whatever that is just a docker, and it would still work... or replace the ship core with whatever block via file editing and the ship would become un-enterable, but (bugs aside)...

      Agreed; this needs to be done. Creating a new ship/station should consume a build block instead of a ship core, and all of its functions should be decentralized to computers (e.g. thrust computer, structure monitoring computer). Radar mark can be moved to the center of mass.
