This is the ship that will pierce the heavens!

The more of this I build, the more I realize that I have lost my frigging mind to be building something this big. Just turning the skeletal outline of that spinning ring on drops my framerate down to a third of normal. God help me when its fully blocked out. Also now at 8 full sized...

      Torpedo Bombers

Well, I don't think its a very good comparison when the reason listed as to why is literally "We don't have shields".

      Torpedo Bombers

I did. Nobody builds ships with a half dozen layers of advanced armor. Thats just absurd. Its like saying a weapon isn't really that dangerous because you can just hide behind a planet.

      Torpedo Bombers

But it is EXACTLY what the OP says they're doing. They cranked up the base damage of the warheads. That you can buy right away. I have no problems with a ship loaded with warheads being used for bombers. What I have a problem with is (if I were on the server) the idea that they cranked the...

      Torpedo Bombers

No see, that would be accurate. That would be a large amount of small fighters using reasonable firepower for their size taking down a titan, and I'm 100% on board with that. Death by a thousand cuts. But thats very different from somebody that could literally build a titan buster kamikaze...

      Torpedo Bombers

Okay, here. I'll give you two Rwandan pirates with AK's in a fishing dingy, and I'll take a Nimitz class aircraft carrier. Now show me how a small fighter is supposed to realistically take down a titan on their own. Although, in all fairness, a titan that even blinks at a million damage bomb...

Ahh The Curse of Infinite Resources

I gotta agree, that many weapons and salvage and multiple jump drives is not a starter ship in my book. For me a starter ship is pretty much just bare power lines and salvage arrays. Mine don't even have weapons because I use those blocks to set up a defense turret for my base.

      Friction!

I'm playing on an up to date server with all defaults enabled. I know its SUPPOSED to do that, and that MOST of the time it does that, but not all the time. Most of the time when I get out of the core, it drops me in my cockpit. Sometimes it drops me off on top of the exterior of the ship...

      Friction!

Let me say this again. This is 100% false. It happened to me just the other day. I went to hit E, hit R by mistake. I not only exited my core without prompts, it dropped me off completely outside of the ship, unsynced, and not in the ship's gravity. The ship proceeded on it's merry way...

      Torpedo Bombers

Doesn't matter if the torps are fragile. If I were a griefer that wanted to just screw people over, I wouldn't build a torpedo launcher, I would make the ship itself the torpedo and do kamikaze runs. A radar jammer and a max efficiency overdrive engine and I could get through any defense even...

      Torpedo Bombers

Well, if you're happy with it, thats all that matters. I know that if I were on that sever, I would leave. The very idea that someone could take down a capital that took a month to build with a little fighter that took 20 minutes to slap together is honestly offensive to me. To me, it...

      Friction!

I have literally never seen that. Also, I like to farm pirates for blocks. Pirates don't tend to like to sit still while you kill them, so when they die they're moving at speed. If they went shooting off forever it would be bad not only for me not being able to harvest them, it would be bad...

      Friction!

Maybe its supposed to work that way, but it doesn't always happen. Just the other day this happened to me. Hit the wrong button, fell out of the ship entirely, ship just kept on going all by itself. Made a quick 3 block pod and chased it down to where it stopped a few kilometers later.

      Friction!

Because without friction, your ship would drift forever. Now, that sounds good to you at first, but what about when your ship is going full speed and you accidentally hit R and instead of putting you in your cockpit it drops you into space? Kiss your ship goodbye, it was going the speed limit...

      Torpedo Bombers

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Small individual fighters should not be a threat to large capital ships. Period. Full stop. If you want to threaten a large ship using small fighters, you should need a large number of them. Remember Star Wars, they didn't send Luke up in an X-Wing...

      Shipyards Factory Integration

Well, thats a reason to keep a unified theme to your ships. If all your ships take the same color of blocks, its a lot easier to start mass producing them.

Things to Spend Faction Points On

Because right now the game has a legitimate problem with everyone making 1 person factions. You get a massive, indispensible mining boost from being in a faction. However, being in a faction with other people means they pretty much get to raid your coffers and use your stuff. So everybody...

Things to Spend Faction Points On

Well the point is that we need things to spend faction points on. The primary way of getting faction points is having lots of members online. Most people don't want to join someone else's faction or have others join theirs because of the current problems with maintaining control over...

      SO LOST

Slight thread hijack, but man do I hate those servers. I'm more than happy to trade realism for playability. I hate spending 20 minutes just to fly down the street for coffee.

Hence where I said "by default" at the start of the post. :)
