Salvage overhaul to possibly fix mindless planet-eating (won't remove planet-mining)

No, I did not realize that, but it makes sense in retrospect when I think about stations I've salvaged :) But that seems irrelevant - salvage beams could be made to observe the adjustable core effect. Seems an easier way to allow servers to either encourage or discourage planet harvesting than...

      Planet Contesting

I like this idea. This + giving planet cores a server-adjustable armor effect would open the doors to some fun planetary battles.

      Alpha-numeric blocks

Suggestion: implement a set of hull blocks with a single, large letter or number on the face of each. Displays are fine, but not readable at a distance, and block-spelling letters is not viable in most interiors and looks horrible on smaller ships. This would be a welcome addition for ship &...

Salvage overhaul to possibly fix mindless planet-eating (won't remove planet-mining)

Give planet cores a Piercing-defense+Punch through-defense effect, ranging from 0-100%, fully adjustable by server hosts. Then if you want to strongly discourage planet-mining on a server and open the way for planets as hard points (along with god-knows what other side-effects) you edit the...

Character behind or in a ship

I like the concept because the scenario you paint is fun, but I also think that our high-tech little toons might be assumed to have hand-held sensors (like tricorders) that allow them to detect life signs even underground or through the hull of a ship.

Bug 189996 patch - Can't play / game hangs at spawn

I've played for about two months total with no major technical issues. I installed v.189996 today and have not been able to play. I've done multiple re-boots of my rig, tried fresh alternate names, tried on 6 servers and cant spawn even in my own sandbox. The game just hangs at spawn...

      Titanomachie

Regarding specification of mass of a titan - there are many systems of classification. The divisions and names different individuals give to ships of different mass has nothing at all to do with terminating the power nerf against power cores under 666 generators. If you cannot understand my...

      Titanomachie

I believe that titans are aptly named. I hope that in time they, like their namesakes, shall fade into obscurity with only the occasional fun exception. Because they're laggy. Because they discourage newer players and smaller factions from being active on servers, essentially turning many into...

A Manifesto on the Relationship Between Fighters, Titans and AI

First - I agree with all of your points, and your 2 previous conclusions. I also partially agree with this conclusion - the player economy needs work. A substantial cut-back in the number of NPC shops would go a long ways towards this, as would some way to make player-run shops more prominent...

Implemented Armor/Hull is Worse than Useless

That is very welcome news! As always - thank you all for the hard work and dedication to your player base.

      Ship Design Idea's

Interestingly I made several orca-themed ships. Excellent idea, IMO.

Implemented Armor/Hull is Worse than Useless

If the game was NOT in alpha, I would NOT be making suggestions. Blocks do already have different HP. Punch-through weapons do not bypass shields. Once your shields are down, punch-through is the ONLY thing your armor will protect you against. Pulse missiles? Really? So slow... so easy to...

Implemented Armor/Hull is Worse than Useless

Good to hear :) A block with 255HP and 99% armor rating could soak 25,500 damage before popping, more with a punch-through effect? And that limit shouldn't affect distributed damage effects. Totally rules out higher HP, regenerative armor though... thanks for the info. From what I see...

Truly recommended PC specs for playing Starmade for real

Try using frigates, destroyers and cruisers that don't lag out the whole server when 3 of them get together. "For real" fleets don't consist of a gang of super-titans. Fighter/corvette matches are super smooth if you want to have some serious faction PvP action.

Implemented Armor/Hull is Worse than Useless

I really do appreciate the really cool looking ships with beautiful armor skins, cabins, ornamental bridges, lava engines, etc. My main focus is playing though, and this involves a lot of long-range flight and plenty of combat, so I find the really attractive ships to be huge, overpriced pieces...

      Hangar Bay Bug?

So I built a big (~500K block) cylindrical hangar bay for safely building & boarding-disembarking small ships. It's closed on all sides except one, which is sealed with a giant plex door. There seems to be problem. If I spawn a core inside the bay, then fly it out the open door a ways (yes in...

KAUB server, events and active admins

This is one of the servers I play on and it seems to be healthy and competitive! Be extra aware of pirates because of small sectors (they can see you sectors away if you aren't jamming). Also I haven't seen any naturally occurring Larimer roids on this server, but that's pretty normal - only a...

      Arctic Gaming

Admins on this server unprotected my home station and used a non-admin alt account to destroy it.

      WARNING: arctic gaming admins corrupt

My account is encrypted, and I play on a few different servers. Arctic was one of the main ones until about 15 minutes ago an admin god-moded his friend's ship out of being trapped in the hull of my protected home station then unprotected my station so his non-admin friend could blow it up...

      Proposal: Streamline Inventory Control

Thank you for the new option to access named cargo containers from the core/build block, Dev Team!! It helps a lot :-D
