Config options: Planet and Asteroid ore density & asteroid size

Yeah - it'd be nice if the planets WERE just large asteroids. Maybe the size of a single large plate currently. Solve a whole bunch of problems.

Recognized by Council Auto-buy for blueprints?

He's very clearly not talking about robbing shops or spawning for free, and he's not said anything to indicate that he doesn't think components should matter. There is already an ADD ALL button. This is a pretty good indicator that the devs don't intend blueprint spawning to be a tedious...

      How to make efficient scanners?

Yeah that cloaked entity message... lol - built a giant scanner-array ship and couldn't get rid of it. Whatever is done to balance cloak/jam-vs-scan contests, scan needs to be fixed to identify unknown stations and reveal shops in its range. Efficient scanning, IMO, is all about array linear...

      Distribute computing of reactors

My hesitance is that letting everyone easily see how the power generators work nerfs the current reward system to builders who spend time honing their skill. I love that instead of an arbitrary skill&level system that rewards grinding (i.e. spend 4 hours stupidly killing mountain trolls and now...

sounds interesting. i could use a power calculator.

      Link Servers

Java is a multithread language, so it's definitely *possible* to teach Starmade to multithread. Only issue is going to be how much work it'll take to improve the code. levest28 - while I completely agree with your conclusion that SM should fully employ its local resources before expanding...

Recognized Rename jump drives to be consistent

I'm 100% against renaming jump & warp to agree. I actually prefer that they have different names. I would actually be in favor of adding a third style of FTL travel called Hyper Drive. In a game with INFINITE galaxies, it seems to imply that there is more than one way in which space-time might...

      Link Servers

This is a more robust approach to networking servers for multi-player in the long-run. I would love to see this be the final solution, because it would enable more close interaction between large numbers of players in a universe. And as you say, the beauty is that it would insulate most players...

      Link Servers

Actually there are even easier solutions than constantly sharing player data like that, I just don't know if all of them can work with the existing data structures or the developers' vision. Some of the simpler solutions are also less robust and may not harmonize with player experience. There...

      Link Servers

Thank you for the response. I'm glad the dev team has examined some of the simple approaches to this. I know that there are a lot of other key features being worked on at the moment, so it's good just to know that this is something under consideration.

      Link Servers

It probably would, but it's worth considering. Anything can be accomplished with sufficient resources. Duties... It's not in their duties to make video games either. But since they have, and (once again, CT) I assume that this forum someone (not I) made called "Suggestions" is meant to...

Why do we still use 3 bytes per block?

Developer response to this notion please.

      Link Servers

Despite the recent performance improvements, even the most powerful servers seem to start choking once their number of online players approaches 30. It would seem that a good way to create a more expansive online multiplayer experience might be to allow community servers to network on an ad hoc...

      Decrease Spread On Shotgun Weapons

I rated the OP agree, and generally do, but would like to add that cannon-missile link "shotgun" or "flak" as I think of it is second only to cannon-cannon links for point-defense (which is a whole other can of worms).

Here is why we must change current meta

I agree with your ship variety point as far as large vessels go, but I see a great variety of ships under 10K. I also agree that anti-missile turrets need serious help. It'd be nice if they were more efficient - you need like a dozen of them to get even 80-90% coverage from fast missiles on some...

      faction points for claimed territorry

I'll be happy to see improvement to the FP system in time. Sometimes I check our faction page and it says we're claiming 3 systems - which we are. Sometimes I check it and it says we're claiming 8 - which we are not - and charges us for it.

      Planned Permission Module

This would be fantastic. I love that idea. I've read that "named permission" would be pretty memory demanding. I'm not sure that permission that simply restricts use to the owner, his faction, his allies, or opens to all would be as demanding as named permissions though. Part of why this...

      Width does not affect turning

I haven't seen them yet :) I only discovered this a couple weeks ago during a re-build of my super-econo micro scout. I've built a few small fighters and frigates incorporating bar-shapes, and one gigantic single-line "ship" 600 wide just to see how far the dynamic carries.
