      Shields and turrets

Are you saying that a 100K-block ship with 10K shield blocks will have more shields if it moves 10K blocks of weapons to turrets?

      Shields and turrets

Sorry, but if firing 20 computers costs the same as firing 1 computer that's not a problem with turret shields, it's a problem with computer power usage :-)

      procedurally generated horror mobs

Me neither, but there are servers doing crazy stuff out there. IF the OP is going to get horror mobs it's going to be on the server level.

      926/reactor

By "X" I meant a cross shape. This is semantic. If you know how to build a docking enhancer array you know what I mean :-D My hat's off to whoever got 1258.7 from 594 blocks. That's good stuff. First statistic I've seen above what I've been building.

      Shields and turrets

I disagree, but I think it's a matter of personal opinion. I consider turrets to be organic parts of the greater ship, so not shielding them is - to me - like not shielding an outboard engine or your landing gear. Sure, it may not be part of the main frame, but it's part of the ship that any...

      procedurally generated horror mobs

Once mobs are implemented I'm sure the survival servers will do things like horrifyingly OP mobs of doom, which the carebear servers likely will not.

      926/reactor

Well I understand what you are saying - there isn't an optimum that works for every ship. But I think you believe this because you assume optimization requires things like as much spiraling or nesting as possible in a given hull, things that cannot be done the same from hull to hull. You can't...

      926/reactor

Okay... I want to communicate this without coming off wrong, so please bear with me :-) FIRST: I am familiar with the accepted canon of what makes an "optimal power grid" (i.e. separate grouping, framing, nested lattice structures). Watched the vids. Built the grids. No one's made a T-shirt...

      926/reactor

Do other modules like hull affect the per-unit output of power reactors? I haven't seen that so far. I'll have to test that. I hear what you're saying; I've watched the vids. Those guys either A) missed one little thing or B) deliberately held something back to keep an edge. Because power...

      926/reactor

So I just made a power grid with 317 modules that yields 293,580 power. That's 926 per reactor. Is that pretty average for a good power grid? scratch that - i'm getting 1,199 per reactor now :)

Brainstorm This My Two Cents on Turret AI

As an avid PvP nut with tens of thousands of competitive matches under my belt, I disagree very, very strongly. Even if every weapon on your ship hits an enemy every time it fires, this does nothing to eliminate human intelligence, tactical response, or strategic awareness from the situation...

      Improved elevators

rails will be out soon, and a vertical rail with a platform will probably let you make some cool custom elevators.

      In-Ship-Teleporter

Why? Players build 10-million block titans, why not 10-million block reactors to hop around from planet to planet within a sector or two range? Tele-titan fun isn't allowed, only missile titan? Seems random, like saying there should be a cap on missile damage or number of beams a single core...

      In-Ship-Teleporter

transporters would be fine, as long as they are power-expensive, and scale both with the mass being transported AND the distance. then there's no need to put artificial prohibitions on teleportation between stations or from a ship to a station or planet (star trek style) - just make sure the...

      Proposal: Streamline Inventory Control

So I've discovered that servers can allow multiple overlapping shops. I guess that makes a sufficient work-around for inventory. Would be better if you could put a shop on a ship though :)

      In-Ship-Teleporter

Astronauts can use warpgates without a ship, although typically arrival point isn't very precise. I haven't tried it over such a short distance but it might be worth testing tiny intra-station warp doorways - may be more precise over short distances. I don't know. Or just go with the classic...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

I'm excited to find out if rails can rail-launch drones towards the enemy for super-fast deployment.

What are your plans for the rails?

Personally, when I hear "rail" in this context, I immediately think "Rail-Gun." So I'm hoping that the rail will be able to 1) move things at speed and 2) have things moving along the rail continue to move OFF the rail if not stopped. At that point my plans for rails are: 1) Rail-launched...

Whole Starsystem movement via the map.

The map exists but to drag something around it would have to be re-programmed to push aside other things to make room for a system you're dragging around. Sounds like a whole lot of work so that non-objective admins can meddle in politics. Although import/export seems easier to implement and...
