      Unify block shapes

It's cheap. Also, it's more strain on the graphics engine, since you will have exposed faces inside the center of the ship.

      Core overheat leaves ship intact

Yes, but overheating will still be a thing. I like the idea of having the overheated ship turning into scrap (though there should also be explosions)

Fog of War (and stellar information)

Perhaps only player-marked warp gates/stations/shops show up on the map.

Except would there would need to be a method to pick a placement color, since recoloring an entire grey color to whatever color is a pain.

      Super Weapons

Yeah, that's a royal pain, and it still not as visually imposing as a single large shot.

Crystal wedges, no extra IDs needed

Armor is by block type, not block-specific. You don't need bits for it. Also, how would the system tell the difference between a solid an non-solid block? It can't tell what the bits are allocated for. That is why all blocks have the same bit allocation. And reducing the HP means either the...

      Multiplayer Control Over Different Systems

But some people want it to be. Simply because it reminds you of something is not a reason to shoot it down. And if it adds complexity and stratergy to battles, why not?

      Super Weapons

I was going to say that energy cost was a counter to that, but realized with many small superweapons the cap on damage based on the superweapon size would negate that. However, how about a superweapon is only a normal weapon until undocked? (Not sure if we want superweapons on stations.) I'm...

      Super Weapons

The first weapon? The weapons configuration menu chooses whichever it wants. And the first slot? That's flexibility-limiting. I do agree that capship points are a great idea for superweapons. Also, multiple superweapons on a ship should be allowed, but at much higher cost. As for turrets with...

Crystal wedges, no extra IDs needed

If you want to have one bit for HP, one bit for activation, 6 bits for orientation, and have that fit with blockID in two bits, you wind up with only 256 blockID values. In other words, fewer block types than currently exist in-game, even without the blocks that are shaped. It won't work. Any...

      Super Weapons

Maybe superweapons have a very long reload time, but can produce extra damage depending on how much energy the ship has up to a certain point. So a superweapon on a ship with 10 trillion energy could do 1 trillion damage, but it'd take all that energy, and you would have to wait for a full...

      Storage/cargo

I think the devs want to keep the core out of the connection/logic system until they find a very good use for it. I'm not sure they would approve of using the core for cargo, and locking it down right away. Besides, having the transfer system means that you have complete control over the entire...

      Unify block shapes

There is no inventory limit right now, so of course you can haul around INT_MAX blocks of 45 different types. And I would say you are being unreasonable. I hope that the inventory limits will be more complex than simply "all stacks must be under size x," and that means that regardless of how...

      Multiplayer Control Over Different Systems

Um, as for shields, they don't have penetration. I was thinking that diverting power away from shields means that you lose shields faster than normal (for a given amount of damage) The total distribution of shields you have would always multiply to 1. (So if I change one area up to 2, I have to...

Crystal wedges, no extra IDs needed

Yes, but you might as well have it in the same place, since it will add extra bits per block. The point of the suggestion is to compromise. The only point of contention was the effect the new armor system would have.

      Unify block shapes

There's no reason that condesing the blockIDs is a bad idea, as it simplifies crafting. Trying to get the right number of wedges/corners/pentas/tetras is a pain, especially when you can't convert them back.

      Multiplayer Control Over Different Systems

Yeah, I like this idea. What about if you want someone to have control over multiple weapons systems? Would they still get a bonus? Also, how would shields be increased/decreased by 50%? (I'm thinking this would have to do with the percent of shields lost per damage compared to the total...

Those are nice turrets. Also, I'm liking the new front hull silhouette.
