Turret requires 7m of clearance from turret mount to hull
Turret requires a radius of 6m cleared from primary axis beneath the hull for full rotation.
Use the ring around the base with an obstructing block to limit rotation.
Without obstruction, turret gives 360 degrees of arc with -5 to 50...

Look, if we wanted to be REALLY realistic, ships would start slowly breaking down the moment you pulled them out of dock. Oxidation, vibration, thermal degradation, ionizing radiation, inertial stress, tidal stress, dust, micrometiors, macrometiors...
I understand your objection.. But I can imagine this a couple ways. Our game universe includes a technology where a hand-mounted or ship mounted beam-device can repair damaged hull and systems. Simply having repair crews armed with repair beams could explain a lot of it.
Or managing power to...

VERY Snazzy... A word of advice. That export of the Galaxy was done before Shields needed chargers. Slap some on there before the pirates find you and do acres of pin-hole damage before you notice them (it happened to me)
We already have remove replace filters in advanced build mode which answers most of the need...
but maybe?
Right ctrl + RMB= Recursive remove
Right ctrl + LMB = Recursive replace with active block
