      I understand your objection.. But I can imagine this a couple ways. Our game universe includes a technology where a hand-mounted or ship mounted beam-device can repair damaged hull and systems.       VERY Snazzy... A word of advice. That export of the Galaxy was done before Shields needed chargers. Slap some on there before the pirates find you and do acres of pin-hole damage before you notice them (it happened to me)

      We already have remove replace filters in advanced build mode which answers most of the need... but maybe? Right ctrl + RMB= Recursive remove Right ctrl + LMB = Recursive replace with active block
