Or since this is about space ships not space buildings... how about actually using ships as a more appropriate reference scale?

I think the main reason why these buildings are used is, that everyone knows or at least can imagine the scale of them. I personally wouldn't have a proper scale in mind when looking at an aircraft carrier or other ships.

how about actually using ships as a more appropriate reference scale? The Titanic comes to mind as iconic, as do the Enterprise or Nimitz carriers, or the Seawise Giant/Knock Nevis. The ISS as a real 'space ship' might make an appropriate reference too, although it just barely qualifies for size.

They'd certainly make an interesting addition to the reference part of the chart, though not entirely necessary.

I'll accept incomplete ships (PM'd if desired) as long as the exterior is completely finished.

Jake_Lancia, perhaps you could use one of the Apollo rockets and maybe the shuttle on its boosters as a reference.

I like the buildings, but I too thought they looked a bit odd laying sideways.

A rocket doesn't matter which way it's displayed.

Perhaps the Saturn V Rocket, since this was the largest of the set.

Just to clarify, as I haven't had much time to look through and see if this has been established, what is the size range you want for ships? I'd love to shoot you some of the ships I'm working on, but I'm afraid they're too big.

Personally, I think we should get some supertitans and kilonauts up on this chart. Canvas size can always be increased, after all.keptick's Charon and Nuclear Doughnut's "dumbbell" are the two I want to see up on there the most. refirendum's Tigerlily II would be a great addition too.

Small ships (under 90m) should be on their own chart at a 1 block - 2x2 pixels scale, though.

The original size limit used to be 100-600m, though I'm pretty lax with that rule. As Lecic said canvas size can be extended anyway, so I can include bigger ships.
