They'll still work in the same way that pre-weapon update ships still work. Technically, but do you really want to use something that outdated and ineffective compared to more modern craft?useful, but not mandatory

Crew is nice, but the idea of needing to micromanage them irks me. Happiness and moral? When did I start playing the Sims? If there is an "auto" mode for them, perfect. They'll still work in the same way that pre-weapon update ships still work. I guess it´s more about making interior useful and necessary than playing sims starmade edition. You have to build your ship with enough room for your crew or they won´t work efficient and your ship will perform with less performance. It also makes the world more lively if the crew runs around and actually does something. If this is implemented the right way the only thing you have to do is start the red alert and every crewmember is on his station ready for everything.Crew is nice, but the idea of needing to micromanage them irks me. This game has been going away from where I would like it to go, sadly. But that is the risk I gook buying the game so early in development. Oh well, still $6 well spent, but it appears I've gotten all the enjoyment I can from Starmade.

Or you can actually specialize instead of making everything a jack of all trades shipNow, one thing nobody has mentioned...
We are going to need large ship optimizations with all of this. We now have to have large cargo bays, we have to have large interiors, all of this means that the size of ships and stations *MUST* increase.
Which means we need to be looking at ways to optimize the engine to allow for these bigger ships.
It means nothing of the sort crew supposedly give buffs to your systems and if everyone has crew then ships will remain constant this is THE worst kind of mentality to have just because rp space will finally do something does not mean that all ships need to get bigger. Now, one thing nobody has mentioned...

I think training academies for NPCs would actually be pretty cool. Makes sense, too. Most armies train their soldiers in a safe location, not in a trial by fire in combat (unless you're WW2 Russia...).Given how NPCs and xp will work, i got a feeling that Training Facilities will become a thing. ships/stations/planets whose sole purpose is to automatically and endlessly train up NPCs
Sounds like a job for clock+damage pulseGiven how NPCs and xp will work, i got a feeling that Training Facilities will become a thing. ships/stations/planets whose sole purpose is to automatically and endlessly train up NPCs
