    useful, but not mandatory
They'll still work in the same way that pre-weapon update ships still work. Technically, but do you really want to use something that outdated and ineffective compared to more modern craft?

See, I like the idea that all the previous designs will be completely outdated and have to be redone.

Means a fresh approach to the game, and creative new challenges!

i read this and i am getting so excited because the game i always wanted to play but have problems to fit in words, you guys described here. So looking forward to it.
    - real demand driven economy. Multiple NPc factions to align with, Npc crew, anomalies ! and CHAIRS! aw man it reads so awesome and my fantasy goes crazy but then there is this itch. You know what itch i am talking about, you know these stories to good to be true right? So i'll say it for all of us, just once

"please make the game of our dreams, and don't screw it up."

TY already so much for the vision.

Crew is nice, but the idea of needing to micromanage them irks me. Happiness and moral? When did I start playing the Sims? If there is an "auto" mode for them, perfect.

This game has been going away from where I would like it to go, sadly. But that is the risk I took buying the game so early in development. Oh well, still $6 well spent, but it appears I've gotten all the enjoyment I can from Starmade.

It has been about 10 minutes and I have given up putting into words how excited I am for this...

I guess it´s more about making interior useful and necessary than playing sims starmade edition. You have to build your ship with enough room for your crew or they won´t work efficient and your ship will perform with less performance. It also makes the world more lively if the crew runs around and actually does something. If this is implemented the right way the only thing you have to do is start the red alert and every crewmember is on his station ready for everything.

Well, I will have to read it all again to let it sink in some more, but it sounds absolutely incredible. :D

The possibilities seem almost unlimited when the described mechanics will be in place. Really something to look forward to.

Now, one thing nobody has mentioned...

We are going to need large ship optimizations with all of this. We now have to have large cargo bays, we have to have large interiors, all of this means that the size of ships and stations *MUST* increase.

Which means we need to be looking at ways to optimize the engine to allow for these bigger ships.

Or you can actually specialize instead of making everything a jack of all trades ship

edit: this sounds a bit more confrontational than I intended, im just point out an alternative

First, i want the chairs now, dosen't matter if they don't work yet

Second, i want to see a more clear and solid to what order things need to make into the game for others to be worked on

Man, these are some kick-butt plans you got! You could totally have an entire working crew on a 1:1 scale USS Enterprise! And would this open the ability to run a bar on a space station that people come and pay to raise their crew's morale?

I’m really exited about being able to designated interior areas to have actual functionality like quarters or medical facilities.
This will really encourage people to think about there whole ship design.

It means nothing of the sort crew supposedly give buffs to your systems and if everyone has crew then ships will remain constant this is THE worst kind of mentality to have just because rp space will finally do something does not mean that all ships need to get bigger.

and quite frankly big ships will die off according to this update anyways except for maybe a largish flagship. They were talking about fleet control, Its common knowledge that ships get less efficient the more mass you cram into them because docked reactors are less efficient and shield capacitors have diminishing returns with the ability to have more ships under your control it will be vastly superior to have ships that float the edge of power stable right at the softcap.

How awesome that will be to sound the GENERAL QUARTERS alarm and watch all the NPC's run out of their quarters and head to their duty stations. Hope my PC can handle the load.

    Hype-tacular!

I got a lot of redesigns ahead of me
[DOUBLEPOST=1445988984,1445988819][/DOUBLEPOST]Given how NPCs and xp will work, i got a feeling that Training Facilities will become a thing. ships/stations/planets whose sole purpose is to automatically and endlessly train up NPCs

I think training academies for NPCs would actually be pretty cool. Makes sense, too. Most armies train their soldiers in a safe location, not in a trial by fire in combat (unless you're WW2 Russia...).
