I assume that you know how to use the Remove/Replace filter tool, with large build area dimensions, to mass-replace all of the cubes, wedges, etc. of the hull, from grey to white, after finishing with the overall shape... Though it would look very appealing in this color too.
I do. I can put it as white armor, but I kind of like the idea of the darker grey. Your frigate also uses a grey main scheme with white highlights. I was planning on using something similar (especially with the wings, those are designed to protect the side of the ship).

I'm sure it will turn out good-looking, however you choose to color it. And really, it's not like there are any strict rules here.

Regarding the last stage I shown my ship in, I would say that it's mostly white, with the light grey standard armor being only the second most dominant material of the hull... But yes, upon a second look, it really seems as if there was a main grey body, with white armor attached upon it.

Hey, do you think my drake qualifies? It wasn't intentional, but thinking about it, might be just the thing you're looking for...

260m long Missile (Battle)Cruiser... I'm working on the interior now. Might be ready by the end of the month.
More on my shipyard thread: https://starmadedock.net/threads/klawxx-shipyard-w-i-p-news-screenshots.31034/page-3

OBS: Please ignore mass, it was before systems / interior where in place.

[doublepost=1543234919,1543234694][/doublepost]PS: White looks too bright on my PC, might be the bloom turned on, but its easy to do a recolored version.

Sure, why not... It's certainly a superb design and you managed to translate it very nicely/cleanly into StarMade's blocky language (y)

Once the ships shown on this thread will all get finished and either published in the Community Content section, or sent to me in a private message, I will load them all in my singleplayer universe, and see whether I can shoot some nice cinematic material with them. (It seems increasingly likely that something like that will happen.)

Figured I'd give you an update. I've finished the base design. I'm adding additional armor plating (because this thing is supposed to be a front-line attack vessel), but will have to add more thrusters to make it quick. I'm going to do a few cosmetic effects on the ship to match its role. I think you'll like the final product.

Oh wait...I also have to do the interior...

I have uploaded the cruiser to community content.
I downloaded it and checked it out in-game.

I agree with the detailed feedback left by klawxx in the reviews at its Community Content page.

As a bottom line, I think the main strength of this ship is its hull, which really is of an interesting design... But regarding the majority of other aspects by which StarMade ships are usually judged, I would say that it stands near beginner-level, at least based on what I seen of it / of what others usually build.

    But congrats on finishing it!

Thanks for the feedback. I've only been seriously building for a couple months, so I appreciate the chance to receive feedback on this level. I hope you find a good use for it, and if you want, you can make some modifications

Finishing a ship could be more than you think. There's people here that in 4 years only have Work-In-Progress stuff lol

Systems are actually the hardest part IMO, since you could come up with really interesting ideas and ruin them by doing poor systems. There a lot of shady details that are not documented enough.

If you want a good place to start is to watch the School of Design videos by Raiben and Bench videos on baisc logic. Tshara videos are also very interesting although he usually only show his work off, not explaining much how he done certain things. here are the links:

    • School of Design:

    • Bench Logic Tutorials:

    • Tshara Videos:
    • Skylord Luke Showcases:
Here are some of the "Master Builder" profiles. Download their ships in single player and tear them apart. =DD

    Hope it helps.

Ok, I'm done with mine... Finished after two weeks of work on the ship itself, then I've put some effort into making some promo imagery.

Had fun with building the ship itself, and I'm kinda pleased with these pictures/GIF too... Even though I'm sure the systems engineering in this ship isn't actually non-shitty enough to worth showcasing anything about it, but screw that

awesome!!! I'm doing the finishing touches on the drake. Just missing engineering and armory rooms.
[doublepost=1543749676,1543749597][/doublepost]By the way, the retro "nuclear powered" engine is the best thing... and theres a LOT of cool things on this ship. Who said you need Titans to have fun?

I've experienced that difficulty before. I basically get around it (sometimes) by adopting a method similar to the A-10 wherein I build the systems first and design the hull around it (usually only works on smaller ships, bigger ones are too complex for that)

There's three posible building methods on Starmade:
1 ) Build systems first then the rest. This is usually used for competitive / PvP ships where performance is important.
2 ) Build interior first, then systems and lastly the shell. This usually is done for RP ship's where you need to plan the ambient proportions carefully.
3 ) Build the shell, than interior and systems as you'd like. This is usually done when you want to convert a shell from a game, TV series or anything else.

All those methods have pros and cons and I believe that Raiben go over them in his "School of Design"series, that i've linked before.

This looks like a really interesting project, but I think I'm way too beginner. Still I might try slapping together a little 50m frigate or something.
I've been watching Raiben and Gmodism's videos, but still most of my designs fall into the Flying Potato category.

DeepspaceMechanic , its ready! Let me know if you need a recolor =)
[doublepost=1543765446,1543765415][/doublepost]By the way, Amazing work on the Lobster. Jordan Peterson would be proud LOL
Thanks, klawxx, I'm glad you like it. And yeah, I tend to add "nuclear" before "reactor", but I wouldn't say that it's a touch of retroness, because if it ain't nuclear, than it would have to be chemical... And I don't think chemical reactors of any kind would suffice for massive spaceships that have to operate on high power for years at a time between refills.

It's very likely that powering on-board processes of far-future spaceships too will be achieved by tapping into the atomic nucleus as opposed to merely relying on the energy stored in chemical bonds. Powering the engines to propel ships will probably still use chemical energy though, since we need a so-called reaction mass for that, and liquid hydrogen as fuel, plus liquid oxygen as oxidizer are some of the most available materials to play the part of the thruster reaction mass, as well as the propulsive energy source).

But I guess we could still label the reactor in the Lobster as a "retro" thing, if it's of an older nuke power technology than, for example, Magnetic confinement fusion.

Now clean your room, young man.
Exactly... No way Dr. Kermit would ever have any pride for us "pathetic weasels" for being creative in videogames instead of real life. By the way, being a pathological perfectionist, I could wipe up the floor with JP when it comes to the art of keeping a pristinely tidy room (pun intended). Now give me fifty push-ups and clean your room, jstenholt! ;)

    Looking good! (y)
I like how bulky but still rounded-on-the-edges it is. It's also nice how those docked wings fit so seamlessly... What's the fictional explanation of having foldable wings on it, though?

    To do list =

    Wings armament
I'm kind of a weapons noob, but I recall reading something like separate entities with weapon systems and AI modules, docked on normal rails, have some limited targeting ability too. Obviously, the chance of actually being able to hit targets with those wing guns will be higher when using guided missiles, especially heat-seekers. I'd experiment with that.
