Yes. We plan on having multiple winners for first, second and third place positions. Each position will be asked to build up to a certain size. This is subject to change depending on what we get with the contest. We might just let everyone that wins that voting build up to the same size or some other result.
Yes but we are not hitting anywhere close to that limit. Much of the game takes form in what is generated in your world and blueprints. We have plenty of room here for the moment considering what your average game's size is nowadays.
We have received 33 fleets last I checked and just from looking at download pages (we haven't downloaded any yet) I can safely say a good half of them are really viable candidates. We need to fill a whole universe. We can't recycle. We need as much original stuff as we can get. So in the end I expect it will be much more than 10.
The Scrapyard Runners. They treasure all the battle debris that most fleets would throw away. This group of talented engineers and grumpy old spacefarers come with all the equipment to tear apart derelicts and carry them away for production or profit.
accidentally made the dock thing too long, so the ships are a bit hard to see, also accidentally faces the troop transport the wrong direction, oh well.
on the left we have a destroyer, with 8 turrets, some spinny things, and 6 dockable shipping containers within it. it also has side-firing heat seeking missiles and powerful antimatter cannons, a jump drive and 600,000 shields. I'm proud of this one.
next we have a fighter that i am not as proud of, sadly
then we have a drone,
then we have a freighter with 6 turrets and 6 dockable shipping containers, and 50,000 shields (meant to be easy to take over and steal all its loot, for pirate players at least)
and finally we have a troop transport, with no containers, but it does have tons of beds, though this is meant to be a military grade transport ship, so dont expect first class service. it features an overdrive, a jump drive, 4 turrets, and 100,000 shields.
i had a lot of fun building these, and i hope they are implemented into the game. thanks
The freighter has additional cargo crates docked on its outer hull.
A logic system lets you control the disconnect or docking of these crates.
All ships except for the drone feature a full interior.
Systems have been layered in a logical way using build components like engine parts.
More information about this can be found in the vid below.
My second fleet submission is back in the form of AtraUnam_Fleet_Submission_2.1 now completely overhauled, all the old ships are completely gone and the awesome dial has been turned up to 11.
Note to devs:
I didn't include a rack because the nature of the submission means there needs to be no rack, however for submission purposes I would like this to be counted as 4 seperate ships (3 ships 1 drone) so that as far as spawning is concerned it may spawn as viewed above but the beam-ship, carrier and drones could also spawn independantly.
This is my "Downtown" fleet. When you drive downtown you see restaurants, hotels, malls, and billboards. That is what this fleet is, except in spaceship form.
Ship List...
Shuttle (this is the car of my fleet, designed to fit in the other ships "parking lots")
Fighter (keeping everyone safe)
Billboard Ship (with jump drive inhibitor to make sure you see the ads)
Inn Ship (hotel and restaurant)
Mall Ship (8 small stores inside with an 8-way cargo bay for futurproofing in case the stores are ever usable)
The big ships have public permission modules and defensive turrets, so a player can explore them freely, or dock to them for protection.
My forth Fleet Submission is a set of fighters and bombers used to defend planets and sector operations from raiders and pirates. Bladerikers_Fleet_Submission_4
