Loving your turrets and detail but I would personally like to see some more variance in the shape of your ships, some of your recent ones fell i but like bricks, extremely well detailed bricks hahah
Dont get me wrong though, I still really like your work.

That pretty much sums up my opinion too. A couple of people in chat also said what amounts to pretty much the same thing.
Apart from the round turrets, I can't see anything new. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice ship NuclearFun , it's just not something we haven't seen before (if you showed it to me without saying I'd think it's just an updated old ship)...
Man I love that style. The Nidhoggr really shows that you have perfected it by now. I take a lot of inspiration from your ships. When Raiben said "don't build blocky ships, you are already building with blocks" I though to myself: "Man, have you seen NuclearFuns ships?"
OK well - i feel like i need to explain a few things:
The ships i am building are things that i like (one of my favorite designs is the Omega Destroyer from B5 (my avatar) or Imperial ships from Star Wars) and i like technical and utilitarian designs (what you may consider "blocky").
The Nidhoggr is in fact a ship in a series that started over 2 years ago.
Loki:
Phobos:
Aegis:
The principal design is already showing.
The color scheme and the armor plates with grey greebling in between.
Atlas:
Kronos:
Nemesis:
Prometheus:
Hyperion:
Fenrir:
Today: Nidhoggr - the first capital ship using the new turret systems and as a little gift for myself for 2 years of starmade (got the badge this weekend, yay).
Also, i have built quite a few ships that divert from that build style (Sleipnir, Aurora, Kali, ...) so reducing me on those ships feels a little bit strange...

Don't get me wrong but isn't that a bit ironic coming from a guy that since the start is building literally one single ship? :p
Hmm alright, that makes sense then. People just like to see variation is all, and seeing how awesome your white exploration ship is we know you can build well with different designs :P
And no, I've slapped together some other ships, you just probably never saw them (they've never been finished anyways). I'd love to make other ships, but I know that I'll abandon Charon if I start doing that, which is why I don't.

It's really old, and I'd need to completely refit the system, which I'm too lazy to do. It's a long range missile boat, and that doesn't work too well with PD now. I already started work on a replacement anyways.
With that said I will stop hijacking your thread. Can't wait to see what you come up next :P

Wow! Yes! Yes very much! A NuclearFun capital with the new rails has arrived. And as expected, it is amazing!
Edit: jzimmerman4 Design coherence is a GOOD thing. I find a fleet of very similar ships much more impressive than a wildly assorted array of "design experiments". Nuke's ships look like they could have been put together by a space navy over the course of a century, and noone else here can say that about themselves. Quality is about evolution, not revolution.

I totally agree I was just commenting on how "tubish" said shape was and how some of his previous designs had more personality. The fact that they look like they belong in a fleet I love.. its what I do for my larger builds. And I mean this all in a constructive way not trying to cut anyone down, Nuclearfun is one of my favorite builders for sure.
And since this one was an anniversary ship the shape makes sense, but before I knew that it felt like a repetitive pattern that if continued too much wouldnt quite give enough variance.
