    would a racer with a turret be possible? Not thinking of an AI controlled turret ether. Something that would probably require a second person. Like combat skid racers with teams?
    I'd be up for that, sure. The turret will serve as a replacement for an onboard weapon system however. See below for weapon restrictions.
    ok so no stop/push/pull effect guns or emps i assume?
    For the death race category, guns of any kind will be allowed, but restricted to one weapon block per CPU. So a cannon/cannon/? would have three modules total, to avoid catastrophic damage to other racers. And NO WARHEADS and NO LOCKONS, again to prevent oneshotting. I'm aiming for a show, not an insta-kill :P

    I'll have to create a new category of racer for this, in addition to using a standard thruster instead of push effect for propulsion, to free up the hand for weapons operation.

    Nah its based on the colour, if it had been blue and grey it would be Aoka.

    ANNOUNCEMENT

    After a slight delay and an uncooperative server yesterday, Skid Racing begins TODAY at

    20:30 GMT (16:30 EST)
    The first track to be featured is the Azertrack Mk1 by Azereiah and is located at 201 200 200.

    The second race series begins at
    21:30 GMT (17:30 EST)
    and features CyberTao 's track, located at 200 200 200.

    Racers will meet ten minutes prior to each race series for pre-race checks. Each race consists of a three-lap circuit with a maximum of six racers per race.

    Spectators must not come within 20m of the track itself to avoid unpleasant situations regarding planet gravity.

    Good luck to all attending racers!

    That will be all.

    I managed to get three other racers together for a test race on the AzTrack Mk1. It... didn't quite go as planned.

    From the left: Ithirahad 's Aethi Speeder, my Bison V, jontyfreack 's flat racer and Jarraff 's unnamed racer.

    Everyone kept falling off... So new track guidelines. THEY MUST HAVE WALLS. Or be fully enclosed.

    I have a camera rig if anyone wants to stream it, its called "race cam" and currently floats above the track in 201,200,200

    I think the main problem with falling off is that it takes a different approach to turning than that of a walled track. to turn without walls you need to lean to the right to turn left, and visa versa, this helps to turn the corners much tighter so instead of falling off the edge you stay in the middle or the inside of the turn. this is also good for the straightaways as it is a good strafing technique. also jumping is very useful for if you are going to the edge of the corner. my word of wisdom are these "if you can see a lightrod, jump forwards a small bit." and "keep aiming up at all times, this helps to make its smoother when you are leaning and will make jumping so much easier."

    and not to brag or anything, but I might be one of the best skid racers on the server. :P
