    [[---OFFICIAL FORMIDAN PRESS RELEASE---]]

Today Operation Maelstrom was conducted, involving the occupation of Dark Homefront stations. During this operation, the Formidan 2nd Expeditionary Fleet engaged and destroyed two Moloch class cruisers under control of the Infinite Legion, and over two dozen Death Orbs (30k Mass Drones). Additionally the allied fleet forced the leader of Event Horizon, Nuclear Doughnut to withdraw immediately after seeing the glorious FCM forces deployed against him. We retrieved the silver bars for both the Dark and Light homefronts, an impressive task. Once the bars were secured, the expeditionary group withdrew.

Special props to Mechanical Wings and Resonance for participating in this operation!

OA/Left Hand Path Hit Formiden Hard

Reports and pictures have trickled in of a massive engagement in Formiden Colonial Madate's home system of Erijor Involving several capital ships. New Darkside faction Left Hand Path, operating an Astaroth class destroyer was appearing to be performing a reconnaissance-in force action of the Erijor system when it encountered FCM's Luna on patrol in the FCS Orirula, a Leipzig class cruiser. After the initial engagement, FCM launched into action, deploying several capital ships to punish the invader. What followed was roughly 15-20 minutes of inconclusive skirmishing between the LHP Astaroth and the defending FCM force until, out of the void, Omnium Aeterna's Drider, jumped in and quickly dispatched a Leipzig and another unidentified warship while another Leipzig was brought down by the Astaroth after an extended fight where the two combatants drifted away from the main area of action.

    In Other News

The war has continued to heat up as loses mount on both sides, primarily around key industrial facilities in Light and Dark space. The Battle of Erijor was unusual in that it was a direct attack on a faction's home sector, an unusual move by belligerents, especially since the focus shifted to protecting colonies and their support assets. These past two weeks have seen the Homefronts as they have come to be called changing hands so rapidly that often news of gains and losses reaching civilian news agencies in the core have proven unreliable. Rumors abound of numerous human rights violations, including workers from occupied facilities being worked to death and force fed performance enhancing drugs. Replacement workers are often recruited from the poorest areas of the galaxy, including the light and dark refugee camps dotting the core systems. Many eagerly sign up for this arduous duty in order to have a chance at a better life. Aid groups and neutral powers such as the Order of Bogatyrs have been repeatedly denied access to these areas while the Galactic Authority remains silent over the matter.

A Resurgent Thryn, led by Imperator Jaaskinal has stormed on to the scene and thrown in it's lot with the FCM lead Lightside forces. Thryn losses have proven heavy but they seem undeterred by this, indicating they may yet prove to be a dangerous threat to the forces of darkness.

Mining operations in other areas by lesser dark side and neutral powers have been hampered by attacks from light side commerce raiders recently.

    Spatial Anomalies Thwart Battle

Three days ago, the forces of Light and Dark had attempted to clash over the Vuo System only to be stymied by massive spatial anomalies after the beginning of the fight. The entirety of FCM's, Thryn's, Merc Dragon's and other Lightsider fleet assets and capital ships were poised to defend Vuo, Light's primary mineral extraction hub and point of contention between both sides for several weeks. Darkside forces, after being issued a challenge over witchspace public channels by FCM leader Comr4de, quickly assembled their own fleet and capital assets in preparation for an all out assault. Dark forces, represented by Vaygr Empire, Event Horizon, Infinite Legion and others were among the massive task force assembled in response.

Unfortunately, due to the fabric of space-time being sensitive to specific methods of ship construction, the initial clash of fleets proved to be too much, necessitating a Galactic Authority response in the form of special dimensional out-shifting "kaboom" devices in a desperate attempt to prevent a complete space-time break. Due to the scale of the battle this proved to be inadequate and the break did occur, though reformation actions quickly brought the flow back into being. Despite the abortive nature of the incident, the data gathered will prove to be useful in establishing future agreements and Authority protocols regulating fleet composition and operations.

The Battle of Vuo, otherwise known as the reason 15 players, 5 million mass, 800 drones, and 5,500 entities in one place is a really bad idea.

Also where FCM figured out the secrets of Vaygr propulsion technology; A line of slave NPCs pushing the ship from behind.

Sanctum Solaris Ejected From Light After Laputa's Resurgence Incidents

After careful yet swift deliberation last night, The leader of the Light alliance along with the leaders of the other constituent factions have voted to eject Samwiz1's faction known as Sanctum Solaris after serious violations in trust and questionable actions. Tensions have been high between Samwiz and the newly established FCM and Thryn dominated incarnation of of the alliance for quite some time due a host of issues related to differences in personality and ethics among other things. Tensions finally came to head when the ostensibly neutral Laputa's Resurgence, a dummy faction set up and operated by Samwiz began attacking multiple factions for mysterious resaons, including several Order of Bogatyrs outposts.

The final breaking point came when A Laputa Seraphim class cruiser attacked and destroyed the FCM and Thryn administered China City, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians along with the small security/civil affairs force of light-side volunteers. This incident was the final straw that motivated Sanctum Solaris' ejection from the Light. While war between Light and Sanctum/Laputa is likely, what will come next is anyone's guess.

EH Blockades NRE Homebase, Destroys Cruiser.

    starmade-screenshot-0008.png

Event Horizon has been stepping up it's attacks against light aligned newcomers New Roman Empire and it's contingent of OAS embedded personnel. Today two EH Barsuk squadrons under the command of Atheu blockaded New Roman Empire's newly established but unfinished home base which lacked defenses of any kind. Multiple deaths were recorded as NRE members attempted to take cover during the initial assault and later run the blockade. An NRE Malevolent class cruiser piloted by IKindaCrashAlot managed to lift the blockade and pursued Atheu several sectors away from the home base. After nearly 25 minutes of hit and run attacks on the EH task force, the Malevolent was finally trapped and taken down after Atheu field rigged a jump inhibitor. The NRE cruiser's broken hulk was then boarded and taken to EH's base to be recycled. Only one Barsuk from the EH task force was reported damaged though NRE claims they destroyed between three to five. A Cottonmouth class raider with darkside markings and transponder codes belonging to Dark faction Left Hand Path was spotted in the vicinity of the wreckage, possibly as a security over-watch for the boarding action as it loitered in the area for several minutes while EH forces pulled out with their prize. LHP had lost an Astaroth class destroyer to Thryn earlier this week while attempting to lift it's blockade on Gailandian Empire's homebase.

    starmade-screenshot-0024.png

The New Roman Empire's migration to the galaxy has been a rocky one, plagued by numerous diplomatic blunders from their leadership resulting in vicious and nearly unceasing attacks from factions such as Event Horizon.

In other news, beware of a new game-mechanic called "debris". It seems to specifically target your inventories and factories on your non-home-base factioned base which is right next to your home-base. It may make you do things like post negative reviews for servers on starmade-servers.com!
    upload_2017-8-1_3-11-26.png
    And to watch the video:
(feel free to leave helpful comments and let your friends see this very informative video about the new "debris" game-mechanic)

So, I'm just letting the public know:
"Be advised that when you see FlyingDebris, it's a person not a random event."

Also, if you are in the same group as these guys, let me point out the "hints" we left for you so that you can understand this is a PvP server:

Server Description on the server list in-game:

    StarMade-Servers.com description:

    Spawn screen in-game:
    upload_2017-8-1_3-21-5.png

But for those players where these subtle hints aren't enough, we are constantly seeking to improve the experience players have on our humble PvP server, so I've added in some more hints around to indicate that this server is a PvP server!

There is now also a new sign at spawn!
    upload_2017-8-1_3-37-26.png

Edit: I couldn't help myself. I had to make a music video. If you like it, make sure to leave a like!

And as always, thank you for playing on LvD.

    so we did a thing.

LVD admins were nice enough to host some free for all events for us, so we took 30 mins to slap together some ships and then went at it.

participants of free for alls included fellowstarmadian, ikindacrashalot, lego8bit, lightspeed, calhoun, nosajimiki, jumpsuit, and a guest appearance by the admin nastral.

our lovable starmade troll/king of alts redalert helped with his semipro announcing skills, and veilith the loser took the videos.

    match 1:
    match 2:

thanks to all of you; look forward to more shenanigans with less glitches =D

So.. I couldn't help myself. I created a music video for those guys that thought FlyingDebris was a game mechanic. I posted it in the original thread, see above.
