I finally have something worth posting to this thread:

Not bad! I like how you broke it up and how the glow is coming from the center. Do you have a gap between the actual thrusters and the surface so that the plume still works?

I recently copied the engines off of one of my ships to turn them into some ultra-high-power engine pod templates, of which I intend to use like 10 on a dreadnought I'm building.

Since I worked on them on a core that had nothing else built on it, I can give you the exact stats of this 4-thruster engine unit:

    - 24,870 blocks
    - 2,500 mass
    - 15,800 thruster blocks
    - 14,800 thrust
    - 526,000 e/s consumption

The first picture below shows the front with the "solar wind particle intake", the second is the back side (only the 3 smaller nozzles create plumes).

Front looks better to me. Maybe its the angle but the light effect is better. That yellow glow is excellent.

I never actually bothered testing thruster plumes, I might revisit this to add them. For now I'm taking a break from exterior work.

Aighty, that's fine! Tbh, it took me a little bit to figure it out since I didn't manage to find anyone really explaining it, but when I realized all you needed was like a one block gap, I've been leaving my thrusters mostly dim, but highly detailed, so that when I start flying, they light up.

EXAMPLE (without a plume though, sorry x3x didn't get a pic of it, but it's just the standard blue plume) :

Thanks, I like it too how the intake's glow turned out. But it's actually just the structure's orientation that makes the difference... in those screenshots the rear end was facing towards the star of the system I was in at the time, this always makes a big difference in glowy parts :)

Sexy booty for a "cruisin' around" ship I've started (in the same theme as the one above). And really, the engines is all there is of this ship so far.
