Hi, I would like to suggest adding [PARSE] to the "Advanced Codes" in the display module.
For reference please look at the table: Display Module - StarMade Wiki

Much like [ADD], [REPLACEALL] it "must be in the very front".

    Here's what it does:

You put "[PARSE]My Favorite Sector: [sector]" in a display block.
When the block is copied to another display block, it runs it through the parsing engine for all the "Function Codes"

In this case [sector] is parsed, and turns into 2,2,3.
Which gives you a permanent record of that sector.

Through just a little bit of logic, you could do the following with this:

Create logs! Lists of favorite sectors, sectors it's been in, sectors it's docked in, sectors it's received damage in.
Damage logs, changes to block counts, armor, shields.
It would also allow you to do everything that this Sensor module tweak topic covers. (Which is a TON)
    * (I'm still in favor of that change too though. Not conflicting)
And as the growing list of "Function Codes" grows, it gives you access to those in records.
    - Perhaps something like a [stardate] (or [time]) could be added too, to make records extra-useful.
    And much more!

I think this would be an incredibly powerful addition.
Can I get an agree? Yeah? Let me know what you think :).

This is the best one I've seen to do this functionality so far. Good job!

I didn't get any feedback for essentially the same suggestion. It may be because there is no council at the moment, but we need visibility for this, so have my agree rating.

Ah, sorry I missed that topic Thalanor . Yeah, any solution to getting the data out of these display blocks would be pretty awesome.
It's like, teased in front of us and we can't reach it!

Thanks! I bet they will implement something to get to the data; it feels like an obvious next-step from the last update.

It will essentially allow coding with dynamic variables in an easy to understand way!

I agree. This or having a dedicated code block and dedicating the original display block to display only
[doublepost=1482985180,1482984470][/doublepost]However, this idea would be far more block based, which is what the devs want. As long as fleet and turret AI being programmable with LUA becomes a thing regardless, I'm fine with that.
