Without having the shield, the armor won't protect it for too long. You see the same thing with floating turrets when the shields drop. This is why I'm in favor of forcing the stabilizers to be conduit connected. Can't really scatter them too much if they are tied back to the ship

This seems to be the reason why they made the shield's area-based, so you couldn't stick something way the hell off in the middle of nowhere. Also, on my last testing guided missiles track the stabilizers, like any other system block

Does holding shift continuously not work for flying near planets anymore? I used to use it all the time when I first started, but haven't bothered with planets in ages

I would be ok with it if it was a kind of "salvage siege mode" where the miner has an uninterruptible timer and disables engines while in use.

I had the similar thing happen when I first installed the PRE build. Any power use (thruster, guns) completely drained the ship instantly, then would show normal recharge. I restarted the client and everything fixed itself. I wasn't ever able to reproduce the glitch.
