I thought I did a patch that fixed the checker holes. Grump. If you have a specific obj file you are eager to use, please send it to me (jo@111george.com) with the mtl file and textures. I might as well use that one for testing.

There is a troubleshooting section in the main SMEdit documentation. It\'s the first page that comes up when you google SMEdit. I don\'t know how to make it more easy to find than that. I think it may be that you are rotating a selection, not the entire ship. If the core is in the selection...

Sounds like you are trying to run the jar file as a class. You need to do java -jar SMEdit.jar I think you are missing the -jar

The only other thing I can suggest is running jo_sm.jar directly. Try: java -jar jo_sm.jar and see where that gets you.

Are you running this from the StarMade directory? After running, is there a jo_sm.jar file? A jo_plugins directory? Anything in the jo_plugins directory? You might try deleting jo_sm.date and trying again. You might trying manually downloading jo_sm.jar, making jo_plugins, and placing...

No worries. I\'m glad I was pushed to do that. I\'ve been meaning to for some time. Enjoy!

      Creating polyhedrons in starmade

So today\'s lunchtime SMEdit update was improving the tracking and reporting of errors. Since so many people are unfamiliar with the command line these days (not just you smeep) asking for command line messages clearly isn\'t a good way of supporting my target audience. :-) I put in some wrapper...

Sounds like it is erroring out at some point. If you run SMEdit from the command line, it should display any errors on the screen. Let me know if you see any exceptions there. I\'ve been considering putting in something that traps console errors and reports them. I\'m not sure how comfortable...

I just launch the tool, File -> Import -> VRML, browse to, say, stellated_icosahedron_(1)_(5_color).wrl, and click OK. Please let me know: Step by step, what you did What actually happened What you expected to happen Any and all files needed to recreate the steps given

As of a patch this morning, you can now use SMEdit to import VRML files, including all of the The Fifty-Nine Icosahedra on Wikipedia. That should give you some fodder for now! Let me know if you find bugs...

In that case, I did a silent patch a few minutes ago over my coffee. That should fix the holes I was seeing. The colors are fun, but StarMade\'s palette is rather limited. Right now it only maps to the nearest hull block. I\'ll push that out to an XML file at some point so people can do more...

You can now import VRML objects. I\'ve only tested on some of the Icosahedra from Wikipedia. Someone wanted to make fancy space stations in another thread. The cool thing is that they import WITH COLOR! No image mapping yet. But colors defined through the Materia.diffuseColor tag work...

      Creating polyhedrons in starmade

SMEdit just got a lot better at importing OBJ files. So if you can find any of these shapes in that format, it would be easy to create them any size you like. Mind you, I just did a search, and found several on TurboSquid. But they want money for them. Boo. Wikipedia links to a bunch, but...

Tried a trick, it worked. OBJ import is MUCH better than it was before. No 3D intersection mathematics. Instead I just draw all the triangles as presented int he OBJ file. It means your interiors are going to be a bit weird. A hollow might help afterwards. But it\'s much faster, and much more...

I\'m not sure how something can be missed. The only values at the data level are the block and data values. You can match any of those with mcdata and mcblock. I guess I could add a smorientation, which would let you map a minecraft block to a star made block with a specific orientation. If the...

It\'s a file format error. A schematic file is supposed to be composed of tags. These are kind of like nested data structures. The first tag is expected to be a \"compound\" tag; i.e. a tag that contains other tags. (Otherwise it would be a primitive, single object, which wouldn\'t amount of...

I truly hope that one is put to rest. Did some more work tonight. Improved Shift-drag selection a bit. Added a \"shape library\" feature. You can now Copy To and Paste From a \"shape library\". These are like \"slots\" in your clipboard. So you can select a feature, copy it into a library, and...

I guess I could add some more shapes to the Hull function in SMEdit. I used to have all the ordinates for the stellations of the isohedron. Did you have a list of specific ones you wanted?

I appreciate the kind words. I was just a bit frustrated. That drives this more than donations. (Although my daughter is asking for more Minecraft lego!) Realistically, at the rate my company bills for my time SMEdit is well into the five digits, so monetary renumeration is never going to come...
