Last I knew OBJ export didn\'t work and no one was using it. I was messing with the JPEG output because the one viewer I had to test with didn\'t like the format of the JPEGs I was writing. I never got it to work. I\'ve reverted the code back. But it is still coming up rather pinkish for me. I...

Lapsing back into self promotion for a moment... I\'ve released a new book on Smashwords (free) and Amazon ($0.99). It\'s set in the same universe as The Raider\'s Lament, but book you\'ve helped me promote with SMEdit. The ePublishing industry seems to favor long series of books, I am working...

That\'s great. My Linux machine is squirreled away in the basement, at the end of the treadmill. (When my kids want to watch more cartoons than I\'d like, they have to do so on the treadmill. Heh heh.) It\'s hard for me to test on. I\'ll work on replicating the graphical bug tonight on my PC...

I thought I tested up to 256x256. Please send me (jo@111george.com) the texture packs you are using, and the BlockConfig.xml and BlockTypes.properties if those are changed. I\'ll see what\'s up and fix it. (Incidentally, is that Linux? I\'ve tested on Windows and Mac, and it should run on...

A torus is a doughnut. Orientation isn\'t important. You can just use the existing rotate/reflection operations to change it to what you want. Relative radius of the ring and thickness do matter. I just picked a general one. If there is enough demand, I\'ll split it out into its own thing.

Added two new hull shapes. I\'ve re-used some of the logic for OBJ file import for hull generation. Now any mesh I can programmatically generate I can create as a hull. Any other reasonably simple mathematical shapes we should have for hulls?

MichaelSeph requested scaling by non-integral values. I just posted that, but remember if you do non-integral values it may impact the actual functionality of the ship. So be aware. On the other hand, I just made a chibi Damocles, which was terribly cute.

It ran out of memory. I think hkulabane used 4G or something for the largest BSG model. How much memory have you allocated?

SMEdit now has the ability to record and playback macros! This is a very powerful feature and lowers the bar for people contributing features to SMEdit. If you want to do more than simple playback, the macros are actualy implemented in Javascript, so you can make them as complicated as you want...

You\'re going to have to be more detailed than that. Reflection works fine for me in all ways that I\'ve tried. When reporting a problem, please follow the guidelines in the doc about how much information to include. I can\'t fix it if I can\'t replicate it. I can\'t replicate it unless you give...

I think you can just take any object and Save As Blueprint to convert it to a ship. If that doesn\'t put a core in, let me know. (But in the meantime just do two rotates x 180. That will eave it the same but also put a core in.) Converting from a ship to an object is harder. I need to crack how...

I just changed all the image maps to white, imported BSG, and it was all white. The original maps were kind of uniformly greyish. So it still looks to me like it is doing the right thing. You don\'t normally design a 32x32 icon by reducing a snapshot. It\'s just meant to be a start.

Well, you\'re dealing with blocks here, and only 7 colors. So I\'m not sure it can get much better than that. Bigger models will increase the resolution. I tried the Nevada at 1000m, but ran out of memory. :-( But given the iPhone test rendered moderately accurately, I think the code is working...

Well, one thing I\'m working on right now is macros. Essentially you can write a little Javascript program that calls any and all plugins with whatever arguments you want. That\'s the core of the system. Once that\'s working, it branches out into several other features: Record. You can set...

Now if you had said \'can you enable the rotate plugin for ships\' I would have understood what you are asking. Each plugin is enabled for specific types of models. I just looked and rotate is only enabled for type ship. It\'s trivial to change. So I just added station. Do you think it makes...

That\'s what I\'m talking about here. Go on, try it out with Nevada. There\'s not a lot of detail because it\'s blocks and only 7 colors. But it does work.

      Finding misplaced blocks.

There\'s a feature in SMEdit that lets you filter what blocks are displayed. You could set up a filter that just shows that block, and get an idea of where it is. What would be better is if I implemented something where when you mouse-overed a block it told you what and where it was. If you...

Ah, it\'s so freeing now that I (appear to) have the Schema file bug behind me. I can concentrate on making SMEdit better rather than second guessing someone else\'s obfusticated code. Thanks to GyngaNynja for his sample OBJ file. Texture based colors in material maps now import with OBJ files...
