this is basically the popular notion of how planet harvesting should be handled but with astroids. According to schema astroids will be respawned with faction points.
i think a docking mode that shrinks the ships profile would be the most useful. my fighters all have a standardized docking sizes and sometimes it can make certain designs less impressive since i have to make them fit. but if i can fold then up for docking then i can make some pretty crazy designs

As for rails, the entire system docking revamp is tied into the rail system. I can only assume that they will also share shields

don't worry about games like Star Citizen, which isn't even an apt comparison, Starmade's unique gameplay and design will be able to attract players in time. But I will concede that it would benefit the game if the next "Big" update is the Quest system. That way schema can give players the tools...

why not have an option to allow Crew members to be quest givers? I can understand that its faster/more efficient to have a menu based quest list but it just seems to me that not allowing players to talk to the NPCs just makes them even more useless.

but really, its not a misguided focus but merely implementing key game features.
If you ask me the game won't really take off until we either have:
a balanced economy
implementation of the quest system
just a reminder. The Thrust revamp and turret tracking based on mass/dimensions are confirmed features.
When they get implemented everything we know about turrets and fighters will be turned on it head
it would split evenly among all of them. and if you eventually add too many you would get like 1% or 0% shield bonus for every turret.
the idea is to empower smaller ships with fewer turrets and discourage titans with unlimited turrets. this system would require that turrets tracking speeds...
I had proposed a system where the amount of shields turrets share depends on the total number of turrets are docked to the mothership. The more turrets you add the less shields they all get. That way smart usage of turrets is rewarded while not hard caping turret sizes/amounts.
we'll be able to gain faction points more readily when the quest system gets implemented. basically we will be able to do missions for various factions and be rewarded with FP and/or credits
would a compromise be possible?
have standard core only docking for static docking as in the ship doesn't move while only allowing for these advanced moving/rotating mechanics if the ship docks via the new rail blocks.
