The code that creates the map could be similar to code for setting up air inside of ships. I had this idea for computing ship atmosphere some time ago, and just realized that it could be used for mapping as well.
I'm going to have to give this thread a bump. I was thinking about this this morning, and I wish the game handled speed limits this way. It means ships with high thrust-to-mass ratio can realistically make use of higher speeds than ones with lower thrust. That translates into thrust having a...
Meh. That doesn't really work at close range or if the enemy is armed with beams. That's why the massive cone of fire needs to be reduced or removed. Bullets coming 45* out the side of a barrel are ugly anyway.
Yeah, that's a good idea. Your exploration corvette won't get trounced by a Titan if...
Many servers import additional stations from the community content section or their own players. Well, whatever.
I think any updated stations should also include universal docking ports. http://starmadedock.net/threads/introducing-usd-type-1-updated.7305/
The more actions we can figure out how to verify, the more possibilities there will be for missions. Delivering cargo is a common mission idea, but there needs to be a good way (code-wise) to figure out when cargo has been successfully delivered.
Then stop charging if the player switches to a different inventory slot. There is NO reason and I reiterate, NO reason to wear out people's fingers this way.
I actually hope to see some sort of sustained warp, or a hybrid of jump and sustained warp in the future. I don't like the...
I've suggested this before. It's a much-desired feature for decorative purposes and for bridges hidden deep inside of ships.
It's kind of hard to tell exactly what that is. I think it's a room where the walls just look like windows into space. If so, yes, exactly like that.
I think the most important thing for stations is removing the "in combat" shield regeneration nerf. Without that, shield regeneration translates to ability to shake off DPS. 1m regen/sec requires more than 1m DPS to take it down. A sufficiently large station could thus shake off attacks capable...
The ship core is a vestige of early alpha. Hopefully it goes away soon. As for rails, they need multiple entities to work. Sticking a rail docker on top of a rail like that sounds nice, but it would be difficult to tell which entity you're building on after that. Maybe the shipyard update will...
I think astronaut weapons should ignore shields on anti-personnel turrets, but they should still be protected normally from non-astronaut weapons. What if you want to put an anti-personnel turret on the outside of your ship to keep boarders from getting near in the first place?
What we need is not automated mining, but alternatives to mining. Some stuff could come with flora and fauna systems like growing plants that leech ore from the soil or breeding creatures that grow crystals on their shells.
It would be fairly easy to select a set of them from the community content area once the game is out of alpha. If we did it now they'd all be outdated and crappy in no time.
