      Most important part is, that it is lag free for a hundred dozen bullets +and+ that cannons don't cease to function just because somebody _could_ fly in their path for no apparent reason to watching newbies.       There could be a path mid-air for the core. It would be pre-calculated for similar-sized ships and can be ignoring hangar doors (would have to open/close with an area trigger in front, would be useful to see the path then)

      Not really. Just do something like with docking modules - check ship size. When the ship is above 0.8* a gates loop size, energy costs could increase exponentially for a soft-cap near the size limit. Ships which are just tall with almost no mass for their vertical size could still use the gate...

      Wasn't that clear. why did you not explain why you use a derivative of a function? Me too, just didn't wanted to piss off peoples which play SM because of PvP or "hate having this annoying NPC getting killed by pulses + missiles all the time and then flip out of our ship on collision or what else".

      Maybe points spend for invincibility should only count functional blocks. Likewise a Trade station with a lot of RP and few weapons/shields should not contribute as much to sector-control as a military outpost would do. For me it is painful to see peoples destroying nice RP for trolling around...
