I put a chest on a ship core. I have a button that undocks it and activates a push beam that sends it through a warp gate into the center of a star.
They should bring back the plex recycler and make it produce hull or something when you put enough trash in it.
The new storage filters are very useful, but setting them up is a bit tedious when you have a lot to set.
I would like to have a button to set the filter to whatever items are in the storage at that time. That way I can just drop in the items that I want to filter and click one button.
It would be nice to have an option to hide the logic and factory connections when not in build mode.
I don't like having to look at a rats nest of connections or go through the trouble of routing them out of the way.
I am hoping that's just a bug that will be fixed. I was disappointed too when I found out I can't make a sorting machine.
You can have one factory feeding multiple others though, so I assume they will make the chests do that too.
I set the memory to 2GB in "StarMade-dedicated-server-linux.sh". The launcher settings have no effect when running from the script.
CPU load is about 5-15% sitting around building stuff and about 50-60% when flying around. It's not a very fast CPU and will only handle 2 players at once.
I run my lan server on a machine with a Celeron G530 and get a ping of less than 1ms and no lag. The server runs Debian Linux though, windows does not make a good server.
I found that the game runs a lot smoother on the dedicated server, even if they are running on the same machine.
I run it from the dedicated server script, not from the starmade launcher.
I couldn't get my gates to go both directions no matter which way I built it.. I ended up copying my station with a gate on it using the load and save commands and it finally worked.
What version of ruby does this require? I got a bunch of syntax errors when I tried it with 1.8.7.
Edit:
I installed the latest stable version from source and it works correctly.
The recipes just need a bit of balancing. I'm sure it will be done eventually.
Someone could always come up with some better recipes and post their block config file in the mean time.
I normally use a cluster of 4 to 12 rapid fire, high dps cannons with explosive or punchthrough for smaller ships and a few high powered dumb fire missiles (millions of damage per shot) with explosive effect for large ships and stations. A big beam weapon with a 100% shield drain effect is also...
That sounds like a driver problem to me. I had that problem (but with all of my games) with the GTX 765m in my laptop and using a different driver version fixed it.
Also, did you turn off both vsync and the fps limit in StarMade?
My framerate nearly doubled around large structures with this update! There is some flickering around the edges of the screen when I turn quickly though.
There is a free program called Logisim you can use to create circuits and simulate them.
I usually create my schematics in Inkscape though, but any drawing program will work.
