      So that they fire automatically, since it's hard for a pilot to aim weapons that face sideways. Of course, theoretically, NPCs should be able to man side-facing computers, but that seems a bit far-off.

      Exactly. This way, broadside weapons could be docked and not die instantly... but turrets don't suddenly become OP.

It's just that I'm used to seeing features go to a point, then not quite get the "last thing on the list" (The NPC update comes to mind (General Lua scripting and the Fleet tab specifically)) that I stupidly assumed that the planets were't going to...

      No, my point is that my way of building isn't square/boxy or anything and I could still fit forward thrusters reasonably well... I don't see why other building styles can't too.

      Limited, yes... 100-120 degree arc outwards (As opposed to turrets' 360), with the same up/down range as turrets.

      Personally, I'd like to see stationary(ish) banks of autofiring weapons too... Though this can be done already, it's a bit awkward since the shots will hit your ship. Balance has to be achieved somehow, though, I guess. Since I'm busy making a ship right now, I may mess around with that idea...

      At this stage of development, I'd rather know. Once the game has all of the core features it needs to be a fun, satisfying, full game, a little mystery about new features isn't bad, however.

      Personally, I wouldn't mind having directional thruster outputs... I don't recall a single design of mine that would look bad with a forward thruster ring or something. (And I build everything smooth and round, no boxes for me)

      Sounds like fun, as long as they can't spread to other planets (without hitching a ride) and can't burrow into your ship. They could, however, try and get into your ship and hide in corners, so you can take them to other planets to infest.

      YAY. Also, today, May the Fourth be with you, but beware the Revenge of the Fifth! ...But will all of the possible values work? And more importantly, what are all of the different possible "style" attributes for each weapon?
