It isn't impossible to fix those things, I don't think... Onboard characters, whether player or NPC, shouldn't get hurt until shields drop, and even then, the damage should be a very small (but somewhat randomized) percentage of actual damage...
Yeah; basic elements in this game (Normal hull, power blocks, thrusters) are impractically hard to make and stupidly expensive... Just building an Isanth-like ship would require a ridiculous amount of work and time.
Yes, I do mean to build similar elements on. I see what you were going for with the freighter, but the result is that it looks like a flying Eastern Long-Necked Turtle with an awkward flat top... Pulling the cockpit back and maybe adding some slight rounding on the top would unify the lines a...
Those are pretty interesting ship designs... But when you expand on I-0 hulls, don't forget to re-add not just copies of the detail elements, but structural designs that are similar too... The Isanth-0, despite its chunky structure, doesn't look like a big box with engines and a control section...
Actually, they're more similar to the inter-system jumpgates (Which the current gate system can build, I think), but they ARE kind of like those accelerators too...
That would probably make much fancier and more diverse gates possible (Along with a few other things), but it would also result in the loss of one of the two balancing factors for gates - the required size.
That's what I was saying, indirectly. :p
No, not the words "system" or "sector." I mean things from real life, and things that are something else in a server's 'canon.' You don't want some random 12 year old who discovered Star Trek to go in and call a system 5000 km away from Borg space...
Hey, I was just discussing this in tester chat! I agree fully and would love to see this. But yeah, there should be a word blacklist, both for curse words and for things like "Sol system," "Orion Sector," and other things things that have no business being names for randomly-generated systems...
Yeah, shipyards are indeed confirmed. I'd just rather get them sooner than later. (Like, this update with FTL and universe updates, then chairs and other astronaut gameplay improvements, then shipyards. THEN other stuff.)
In-development features don't always get announced until they're released since they're in an unfinished state, subject to change, and not guaranteed to be released with all subfeatures originally planned. As for when... Soon, hopefully. I'd honestly bet on 2-3 weeks, judging from the current...
