      worth purchasing ?

I have paid much more for less fun, less complete games (I'm looking at you, Outpost 1994!). There is a lot of great stuff going on in StarMade. Definitely worth the pre-purchase price. Especially if you go by the old computer proverb that tells us "It's not a bug! It's a feature!"

Other games with unique features that fit in Starmade

I think we need some sort of annoying tribble-like creature that floats around on-board ships, seems cute at first, and gets into trouble. http://wiki.alioth.net/index.php/Trumble Also, similar to the game Privateer, there needs to be "quests" where the price at remote stations of certain...

Shield penetration, armor relevance and system damage

To the briny depths with the fool who thought that hiding roman candles inside consoles, linked to the damage detection system, was a good idea! :p But it is more exciting than seeing a digital readout screen suddenly switch to displaying white snow.

      NPC "Players"

Maybe provide custom clothing recipes to the server: if you supply the right factory resources, out pops a new generic clothing "block" (maybe textured like a suitcase) that when used, disappears and your skin texture is changed. (Or, if you are wearing a custom skin already, your texture...

      Forcefield blocks.

Just don't use force fields in a prison. Ask Cave Johnson why. :p http://theportalwiki.com/wiki/Cave_Johnson_voice_lines#Perpetual_Testing_Initiative

      Increase Weapon Ranges

You can generally increase range by slaving a beam weapon system to a master system. IMHO, the range boost doesn't quite improve far enough, but it's something.

      Solar Panel

It would be a good utility block for decoration that actually does something. I imagine a large array of them would look neat! (I am looking for a smooth, slick, shiny black surface in my current in-ship hallway design. Suggestions welcome.)

      Plex Door Wedges

Maybe use a similar mechanic to hook up a plexdoor block to hull, decoration, construction, or glass blocks, to make them act like a single door if they are all together, regardless of color or shape. It would be neat if you could make a door out of some of those gorgeous new decoration blocks...

Looting… am I doing this right?

Sometimes the station storage has stuff, sometimes they are all empty. It's random. Keep looking and looting! Otherwise, yep, this is pretty standard. I also have trouble with managing inventory before loot disappears. We're all hoping for an inventory improvement of some kind that will allow us...

      Blueprint-lock

"You are evil!" Affirmative "Do you enjoy others suffering?" A: Yes "Why not just sub-sorting it (like a sub-folder in your file hierarchy) as a remake?" Sounds like a good idea as long as it is forced by the game, and the original author is referenced in some way (maybe a hyperlink to the...

      Blueprint-lock

Maybe the original blueprint could have a permanent, non-overwrite-able author field. Naturally, crackers will eventually figure out how to change the author field, but this will be more trouble than it's worth. Then the blueprint, after the initial creation, will always have that first author's...

      An avatar-block

A Schema block would be similar to the Nyancat in Minetest. It's rare to find one, but it's a fun thing to find. Functionality? Pure decoration doesn't seem like enough. The effect, whatever it may be should probably be a reference to some gameplay element from the early days of the project...

      Lights wedges, corners...

Thanks! If that's true, that's a huge savings, and then angled lights aren't so bad for all the good they would do.

      Lights wedges, corners...

Welp, there goes the rest of the available Block IDs. (4 new block shapes * 8 colors * 24 Block IDs for all possible orientations = 768, far more than the ~480 unused Block IDs available in the existing Block set.) Go ahead and ask Schema to alter the way shapes/colors/etc. are designated, or...

I don't like the idea of FTL

As long as thrusters (or whatever may replace thrusters to allow sublight travel) doesn't go away, you are free to avoid FTL travel at your leisure. By all means, enjoy the serenity of conventional space travel. There is a certain zen in watching the stars.

      Solar sails

I was pulling from real life thrust options. I am not aware of a true antigravity thrust option. (Actually, the space-warp stuff should be able to work against gravity, creating an element of antigravity by simply overriding it. I haven't read that much about it yet.) On the other hand, an...

Missile fires 8 times then reload?

It would be great to have a missile/damage ratio setting that you could change on the weapon computer. I think all computers should have a configuration screen you can access with the normal way ("R" by default). Such a thing would bring back some of the weapon settings that the devs have gotten...

      Solar sails

I had to disagree, because the propulsion from solar sails is extremely slow. Extremely. Did I mention extremely slow? It's a concept based on getting stuff out of the inner system over the course of years. That is not a fun concept for a space game. A space simulator? Maybe, but I don't think...

      Loader Beam

We should avoid the term "transporter" to avoid unnecessary entanglements with a certain near-half-century Sci-Fi franchise. "Transference" is equally space-ey without the antanglement. Or we could go the military route and make a cute acronym name. Such as CAT beam (Compact and Transfer) in...

Displayed speed isn't the actual one

We could go the original Battlestar Galactaca route, and use metric-sounding custom names. I nominate the (drumroll please) speed/distance term: Starcron With all the usual metric subunits: microstarcrons, kilostarcrons, etc. The name could be both the distance, and the distance in seconds, so...
