Yup, that is exactly my battle plan :D First, a roughly 5M damage ion shot at roughly 50% pulse support (my ship can kill it's own shields in one swoop with that currently, or a manticore in three), then missile drones (and turrets and main arrays and stuff). Wonder how much ion alpha damage you...

      Jath's Screenshot Thread

In starmade you can get away with having thrusters "permanently on", so a layer of some light emitters (white or yellow maybe?) over the visible thruster blocks in the back could do the trick :) The thrusters are deep enough to still let you have the "depth" feeling even with 1 more layer.

Always like some BSG stuff :) You can actually make it slightly cone shaped at the front (width increasing as it approaches the back), which gives you more space for systems (the viper is not all that thin after all).

If I am not mistaken, after unloading all drones the main ship might be slightly lighter w.r.t. agility. Even though it is not much, it is a slight boost in maneuverability, and at the same time the drones are already offering protection. Much better start into a fight; and if the main ship has...

Ye, while I have logic to make the rack eject drones on damage, even that can be easily destroyed in one swoop and most of all, it requires a hit to take place (which will already kill off most drones on one side). So pushing out the minions is definitely priority number one (and if you are...

If you can see the swarm.... then the swarm can see you. (Although not technically, and their weapons not necessarily :p) Also I want to wander around a large hall full of drone racks. The sight.

@keptick I sure hope that you'll have a gigantonormous ammo storage hangar in your base filled with drone rack rack racks. Because that's the only true way to show off military assets :p And for ammo restocking purposes, all one needs to do is buy one gigantic standardized drone rack shipping...

How do I make an activator block reset itself?

Thanks :) Most interesting are starmade-specific implementation details, like how a player pressing an activation button or entering a trigger area attaches his handle to the signal, while a logic block won't propagate it, making gravity travel easy to do. Knowing all these should be enough to...

How do I make an activator block reset itself?

Excellent :) Logic currently does allow very easy creation of large gravtrav networks, and I hope it stays that way :D Btw, as I haven't stated that yet, excellent and intuitive implementation of logic @der_scheme . Makes uni knowledge useful :p

How do I make an activator block reset itself?

Using this unmodified for the GravTrav fast travel tubes onboard my ship - works like a charm with gravity blocks (for some reason the annoying "neutralized gravity" does not happen).

Charon 2.0 - A WIP super titan [Update 5 : new medium turret]

There is nothing better than a lasting project just getting better iteratively! Makes you believe in engineering :D But 1.3km of space and no crew? You are going to be lonely on that shiny new bridge :D

      point defense turrets

Ah I have been testing this in an SP universe, must be the faction. Thanks :)

      point defense turrets

Must be then, good to know :) I tested my ship against a wave of pirates, and my PD turrets went after my missiles instead of the Isanth Mb ones (I can tell as missiles are always orange on my ships).

      point defense turrets

You only need 1 damage currently to shoot down a missile, but only cannons work. Currently I find the problem with PD turrets to be that they shoot any missile - for ships that have missile turrets, PD turrets are actually contraproductive (you waste turret space on something that decreases the...

How big should I make my ship?

Best part is to "find your style" with a corvette-sized ship, then work your way up :) Beyond 500m it gets highly impractical though. When I try to make a "reasonable size capital" I go for about 300m in length, that way the ship won't single handedly crash the server when it gets close to an...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

I will be testing an "everything" - ship under field conditions when it is ready (possibly some weeks still). Had a plan I sticked to but then I read this thread, and just HAD to extend everything for a drone bay :D Let's see how it works out in practice to mix drones with conventional anticap...

Still researching if it is possible at all :D would be neat. Current can't get the activation blocks to trigger, trying other forms.. EDIT: Damn, even chain-docking does not help: activation blocks placed on entities won't be triggered by stuff docked to that entity.

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Ye, might not be the best to let every sloppy machine have a trigger. True :D However, there is another application of tech that might be possible: Using a turret and activation blocks in "clock" formation, there could be a directional pointer where current hostiles are (where the one turret...
